VY: My name is Vy, I am a Vice President and Actuary
at Prudential Retirement located in Hartford, Connecticut.
I've been with the company for three and a half years.
The average day at Prudential Retirement is...
could vary quite a bit.
Some days I spend a lot of time in front of my computers
looking at analysis, other times I spend a lot of time
with the people on my team.
Anything from your perspective, Jill?
JILL: Well, I've been collecting some of the notes.
VY: The actuaries in our area are very critical
in terms of coming up with the product design
and the solution that we go to market with.
We also are key to managing the risks associated
with our products.
I think that's a good foundation for our next team meeting.
Within the group that I work in at Prudential Retirement,
diversity is very important.
With diverse thoughts comes better ideas
and better solutions, and because of diversity,
it really does help our ability to innovate and stay ahead
of the curve relative to the competition.
Prudential, this is Vy speaking.
The single most important reason I chose Prudential
was the opportunity to work with really bright people.
Even though it's a very large company, I don't get
that feeling of being lost in the bureaucracy, and I've had
a chance to really apply my skills, round out
my business knowledge, and really work on my
leadership competencies.
Those are ingredients that will keep me here
for the longer term.
So look for a meeting invite for Thursday.
Okay, take care, Jim.
Bye, now.
I have two kids, and I've never felt like... that work has
been in the way of me watching my kids grow up,
so I feel like the culture here has been very supportive
of a balanced work life, and definitely provides resources
to help individuals reach that balance.
Prudential retirement is a good place for a long term career.
Development is one of the key priorities for the company.
It's a market leader in many of the businesses that we play in,
and truly a company that's recognized in the industry.
I view it as a long-term growth opportunity for myself.
