Travel Diary. Page 11. Preparing the Yellow for flight. Finish of the 1st stage
Today is December 17th. I'm in Kathmandu.
I'm at the airport's bonded warehouse. And we are packing my bike for flight.
It's my second day in Kathmandu.
I've passed about 800 km across Nepal.
Among them there were 400 km of mountain roads
So, let's go to mountains.
200 km of the serpentine roads are ahead.
I have called on so called "mountain capital of the world" -- Pokhara.
The highest mountain -- Everest is not far from it.
And then I drove to Kathmandu. All this way I rode along mountain roads and serpentines. It was very interesting.
Roads quality isn't very good but the views are great! It's the Himalayas.
On my way to Kathmandu I have met with the Japanese -- Hiroshy.
He is a bicyclist and he is already 8 years in the travel.
He is a painter and very open-minded person.
He hasn't any special equipment. Just bicycle
During the journey he constantly draws
When you talk with him, you want to smile and not to stop this communication
because he is really open and cheerful person.
I guess he is 60-70 years old.
Now I'm in Kathmandu. And Tomorrow I will fly with this box to Bangkok.
Excellent! It's my main assistant who helps me with bike here.
In fact the first stage of my journey has finished here in Kathmandu. 9 500 km
4 weeks. 8 countries.
This stage I would call as a "mountain stage" because there were mountains in each country I passed, except Ukraine
So the 1st stage has been best remembered for mountains, cold and Pakistan.
These are 3 main moments that fixed in my memory.
And now the 2nd stage begins. I'm going to fly to Bangkok
Then I will ride through the South-East Asia and reach East Timor.
And Australia will be the last stage.
Ok, that's all. See you in Bangkok. In 30 degrees warmth
where I'm going to see the End of Days... and the New Year
Good luck! Good-bye for the moment!
We couldn't find special BMW tools so now we have a lot of troubles in our trials to change it by improvised means.
Go easier! Gently!
