Hi, thanks for joining me today!
I'm going to demonstrate how to make a feather pom pom or hanging lantern, such as this one,
for your special event such as birthday parties, or maybe you're decorating for a wedding,
it could be a holiday such as Christmas or halloween, baby showers... these pom poms
make excellent decorations.
For materials, you'll need a glue gun, you'll need the glue sticks to go with the gun, an
organza ribbon - you can also use fishing line, but depending on the look you're going
for, the organza ribbon is really pretty - and of course you'll need a paper lantern, these
come in several different sizes, this is about a 10" here... and of course you'll need a
feather boa.
Okay, let's get started! First you're going to pop out your paper lantern...
So you're going to want to start gluing about 2 inches from the top of your lantern. You're
going to apply a nice, generous layer of glue for about 6 inches around the lantern, and
then begin to press the boa over the glue.
As you're gluing your boa around your lantern, you want to make sure that you apply a nice,
generous amount of glue. Hold the boa away as you apply around and continue to wrap your
lantern with the boa. The 10" lantern will take about one and a half boas to completely
cover.
As you get to the bottom of your lantern, you're going to leave about a half of an inch
to an inch of the lantern that's going to be uncovered. Continue to apply the rest of
the glue that's needed, press your boa in and around the lantern, and then from here,
you can cut off any unnecessary boa.
Once you've finished covering your feather pom pom completely with your boas and you've
tied your organza ribbon to the top depending on whatever length you need it to be, you
have a feather pom pom. Have fun decorating for your event!
