We really are in a Final Fantasy! Hi everyone!
Today we're on a Chocobo for a new video on Final Fantasy XIV
I'll try to show you the new on the lastest patch 1.19, it added a lot of thing
I'll try in this video to give you my thought about this update and what they've added
One of the biggest new feature is the Chocobo! Chocobo are emblematic character from the Final Fantasy series
We had to wait one year too see them arrived on Final Fantasy XIV, but they're really well done!
The music is really awesome, but what's really awesome, if you compare them to Final Fantasy XI Chocobo
We'll have the opportunity to get ours really fast, and then we'll be able to call it anywhere we want
At the begining, we'll of course have to buy them from a NPC like in XI, and once they're gone, they're gone
But thanksfully it's really easy to get our own chocobo
That's a really good news for Final Fantasy fan, the other feature that was added and was emblematic to the Final Fantasy Series
It's the Airship! In older Final Fantasy, Airship was the best way to move on the World Map
In Final Fantasy XI, they were added to move faster between City
In Final Fantasy XIV, it work a little like in XI, but this time, the voyage are instant
You can just afk next to the airship this time, no need to get inside the Airship
And when the Airship arrive, this time it shouldn't take more than 2~3 minutes, in Final Fantasy XI we had to wait sometime more than 10 minutes
So this time it's 2~3 minutes wait, and instant teleport! The only downside to this is that there's no Airship MUsic, in the Final Fantasy Series, Airship music used to be awesome!
I must admit though that i'd rather not hear a good music, and wait 5 minutes everytime i'm taking the Airship, so that's really nice
You'll still have a buy Ticket though, the price depend on our Level, the higher it is, the higher the price is
The price at level 50 is 5 000 Gils, but the developer said that depending on the game economie, they might adjust it in the futur
That's a really nice way to avoid using Anima, Anima are the stones that allow us to use the teleport
That is all about the new way to move in the game
One of the new feature also that was added is new tutorial on game command when you make a new Character
I can't talk much about it because i haven't tried it, but it's probably nice for new people who're starting the game
About the Grand Company that was added during the last patch, there's big change about it on this patch
When they first added the Grand Company, it was possible to join all 3 Grand Company, and we could do quest of all 3 Grand Company
You could also buy items from all Grand Company, but it's not possible anymore, because if you want to get a military rank in one of the Grand Company
First you'll have to do some really long quest where they'll introduce you to all Grand Company and their Leader
Then you'll have to choose one Company, but when you do, you'll lose all your point in the other one, and there's no way to join them after that
I'm not really fan of it because we'll probably only have access to one story of the Grand Company
But they'll probably be similar, or they might get to point where everyone get the same story like in the main story of the game
But i hope in the future, we'll be able to change it like we could with Nation on Final Fantasy XI, without losing too much thing
What's nice though, is that we have to do quest for all 3 Grand Company before being able to join one, it take some time though
But it's nice because we get a previews of every Grand Company, and the only quest available currently is the same for all 3 Grand Company, the Ifrit quest
I'll probably show you the fight at the end of this video
About the Grand Company, we can now get Guildleve from a Grand Company
With them you'll get Seal, Grand Company Currency, with it you can buy stuff, and it's also with these Seal that we can get our own Chocobo
We can also get Seal by giving Crafted Material, like the kind of quest we can find at the Tavern
They also added in the game what they called "Caravan security missions"
These are quest you can activate every 1/4 hours, you'll have to defend Chocobo transporting material
The purpose is always to get from a Camp to another without losing any material, we can be attacked on the road
If we're getting attacked and a Chocobo run aways, we'll lose one bag on it
Thing to know also is when Chocobo will get attack, they'll lose HP, we can restaure them by giving them legumes
So we'll have to buy some before doing it, so these are nice quest to get Seal for Grand Company
Quest really nice if you don't want to do leve, but it's still really classic
But we can hope that in the futur, we'll get other kind of Mission like this one
This quest was made for level 25~30, we can do it at Level 50, it can be easly done in Solo, but we wont get any Exp
And it'll be less interesting, so that's pretty much everything news about the Grand Company
About the new Area they've added in the game, they added what they call "non-instanced dungeon geared for low-level players"
The Dungeons itself isn't really big, and it looks a lot like the one we can find at BloodShore
What's really nice is that there's Quest we can find at the City, that'll bring us here
And in this Dungeons, we can find a Coffer, that can only be opened by a Key we can this dungeons
It's a little like the Coffer we could find in Final Fantasy XI, so that's probably not the dungeons they worked the most on
And with the fact that it look a lot like the Bloodshore one, we could ask ourselves "What's the point of this Dungeons ?"
But with the quest we can find with this dungeons, and the Coffer's one, it's better to have a small Dungeons with thing do in it
Than having big dungeons with nothing to do in it
They also added 2 beast tribe strongholds, the first one is called Zahar'ak
It's not really big, but this time it's a High level Stronghold
You'll have to be in party to kill these monster, it's a nice place to do Experience points
We also have quest to do there, so that's a really good thing
In La Noscea, we can find the U'Ghamaro Mines, it remind a lot of Movalpolos in Final Fantasy XI
It was the mines with the Moblins, i didn't went much there but it looks also like a good place to do Experience Point
That's it pretty much for new area, so they aren't that big but at least lot of thing to do there so that's nice
About the Guildleve, there was lot of change, no more new Leve every 72 hour
You'll get 4 leve every 12 hour, but this time, if you're not using them, you'll be able to get 8 in the next hour, and up to 99
That's a really good thing because now you don't have to log on the game every 2 days to do Guildleve
We can also notice the possibility of Giving up a Leve, or Retrying one from the Menu, so that's really nice because no need to go back to the NPC anymore
They've also added a Levequest History, showing the last 8 Leve we did
Really good change, the only problem is with the change made to the battle systems, they aren't that usefull anymore, i'll explain why after
But it's really nice that now, when we lose a Leve, or get disconnected, we can do it again right after, unlike before when you had to go back to the NPC and wait 72 Hour
About the change made to the battle systems, the first thing we can notice is that the Physical Level is gone
Physical Level gave us the possibility of increasing our stats, and we could keep it even while changing jobs
Now it's totally gone with the possibility of chosing our stats
Now the stats increase automatically, Skill point were also renamed Experience Points
Another Big change is that now we can use Spell without going to active Mode, it's really awesome when we're playing Mage
There's also 2 new big feature in the battle systems, the first one is a Link Systems
Link are when you're fighting a Mobs, and you get aggro from a other mobs, This time, the more Link we get, the more Experience Points we'll get at the end of the fight
So if we get 1 link, we'll get a bonus of 25%, 2 Link is 50%, 3 is 75% and 4 or more are 100% Experience points bonus
So just with that, we can already double our exp at the end of the fight, and 2nd new Feature is the Chain
It works a little like in Final Fantasy XI, when kill a mobs, if you kill the next one before a timer is up, you'll get an exp bonus, it start at 20% for the first chain
If we get 5 chain, we'll get 50% Exp bonus so that's really good
They've also added on UI a Timer that'll tell us when the Chain is over
It's really nice compared to FFXI where we didn't know when the chain was done
So because of all that, it's much easier to get Experience points than by doing Leve
It's probably just an adjustement problem, maybe in the future they'll reduce the Chain timer while we're in Solo
We'll probably get something like this in a future update, and the last big change in the battle systems, is that they totally removed the Battle Regiments systems
The systems isn't totally gone, SE has simply removed it so they could work on it, we'll probably see it back in the future 1.20 updates
I think the change made to the battle systems are great, mostly the Physicial Level because i never understood why it was here
Mostly that they removed the choice of the stats, they'll add something in the next update where we'll be able to chose points again, probably like the Merit points systems in XI
I can understand if some people are disapointed by not being able to chose our Stats when we level up, but i prefer this systems because everytime i was chosing a stats, i was always afraid to chose a wrong one
Now there's no choice anymore, and everyone as the same level
Another new thing on the battle systems is that now we can get PL (PowerLevel)
Because Square-Enix totally removed the Exp reduction with level, for exemple if you get someone level 50 in your party and you're level 20
If you're fighting level 20 mobs, the level 50 wont get anything, but you'll get as much Exp as you would have with a Party level 20 or in Solo
About the change made to items, the inventory has now 200 place instead of 100, they also added new items to craft
They also changed the old recipes, now they'll ask for less material
But the really big new feature are the Materia Systems, so What are Materia ? Materia was first added in Final Fantasy VII
It was the main systems to get Stats or Ability, we could attach them at a Weapon or an armor
We could get both stats and Ability, on FFXIV it work the same way except we wont be able to gain Ability with them
To get a Materia it's simple, everytime you'll fight a mobs with a armor, you'll increase the Spiritbound value on it
When it's full, you'll be able to change it into a materia, the level of the Materia will depend on the level of the armor you're changing
Materia can have diferent stats on them, then all you need to do is attach them to an Items that can be attached by a Materia, not all can
Then you'll get both stats from the armor, and also from the Materia
Materia can be attached only by a crafter though, So the Materia Systems is nice
Changing armor into materia is nice because now instead of throwing your stuff away, you can change it into Materia and equip them on your next armor
The only problem is, this is the only way to get Materia, and when we're level 50, we don't really want to go do Experience points
We can hope that in the future, we'll be able to get Materia Through Quest or High Level battle
But currently the only way to get them is to increase Spiritbound, or to buy them because you can sell your materia
But it can cost lot of money, so that's pretty much all big change about this update
There was other change such as the color of the name of your armor that change depending on if it's rare or not, thing like that
As promised, there's the Ifrit Battle, the level 30 one, because there's 2 fight, one at level 30, and one at level 50
Really great update, it might didn't had a lot of High Level content, but at least it got lot of thing at low level, for people who'll start the game, so that's really nice
To answer a question people ask me a lot, "is the game worth playing ?"
I have a hard time answering this question because the game is still in Beta, and can we really tell someone to play a game in Beta ?
I'm not really sure, and the Produceur of Final Fantasy XIV did a live on Youtube before this update
Where he said a few thing about the future of the game and did answer a few question, and like he said, the change are only done at 50%
And at the next update we should see the new jobs that he presented, he also showed a few artworks
If you want to see them, you can watch the video, they also talking about remaking some maps like Gridania Forest
And lot of thing like that, so like he said, the game is only at 50% of what it'll be when it's done, so we're far from the end
So i'd like to say : If you want to play it, by keeping in mind that it's a beta version, then yes you can go buy it
Or you can you wait the PS3 version and play a finished game which could be really great, but again it's another question hard to answer
The game change so much every updates, so will the game be good or not ? We can't really answer this question, now i find the change really nice
So i think the game has a good potential to become a great game, so it's almost the end of this video
If you want to see more of my video, you can subscribe to my Youtube channel, i try to add some every week
Good days everyone! And See you again!
