In the beginning, the world was created by the three goddesses Din, Farore and Nayru,
who shaped the land and gave it life before leaving a symbol of their power (the Triforce)
in the care of the goddess Hylia. The Demon King Demise wanted this power for himself,
so waged war with Hylia until she sent the last remaining people, along with the triforce,
into the sky to form the city of Skyloft. That didn't work, Ghirahim kidnapped princess
Zelda, revived Demise, and the hero Link defeated him -- in doing so cursing the trio's offspring
to clash with each other until the end of time. Hyrule is founded along with the Temple
of Time, and there was much rejoicing. After some early battles with an emo wind mage,
Link's descendant was tasked with rescuing Zelda by opening the Doors of Time, unsealing
the Master Sword and defeating Ghirahim's incarnation Ganondorf with the aid of a magical
Ocarina, leading to a series of adventures involving an eldritch god of madness and death,
an invasion of monsters from the dark world, an island adventure in a talking boat, and
a land adventure in a magic train. Or in the alternate timeline split where Link fails
to defeat Ganondorf, some time travel, some weather manipulation, and waking up a magic
whale with an enchanted cello. Years after waking up said whale, the evil sorceress Yuga
begins sealing the descendants of the mystical seven sages into paintings, and Link's current
incarnation must travel between the worlds of Lorule and Hyrule to save them all and
defeat a revived Ganondorf with the help of Princess Zelda before both worlds are torn
apart and remade in Ganon's evil image.
