best news. So stay tuned and we'll cover everything from school events such as
your weekly sports update and a recap of homecoming.
And also we've got the latest scoop
on the presidential election and the latest video game so stay with us.
Hello everyone, I'm Jansen Engelbrecht. And I'm Lida Landre from
your one and only Del Oro news.
Like always we've got the latest scores from our amazing Del Oro athletics.
Let's start with boys soccer who played against Woodcreek. Varsity pulled through a nice win
scoring a one and leaving Woodcreek with nothing.
J.V. played a nice game losing by only one point.
Goal! What are you doing?
I was pretending to be a soccer announcer. I cannot beleive I have to work with you.
Moving on,
girls tennis also had games this week along with girls an dboys water polo.
Shout out to girls tennis, great job and we will get them next time.
Both our J.V. and varsity girls water polo pulled through two wins Tuesday.
J.V. destroying 10-5 and varsity poning 5-4. Poning? Really?
J.V. boys kept it close, but it was GB who went home with the win.
Varsity boys had an off week, but you're still great and we all support you.
Awesome week for our golden eagles athletics. Now we have some not so local news to show. Wait! Yeah?
Aren't you forgetting something kind of important?
I don't know. Am I?
Well yeah!
Then what is it?
As we all know, except for this one over here, last Friday was the Del Oro
homecoming game.
We played Woodcreek and there was no surprise that all of our boys dominated
scoring 38-7. Atta boys DO!
Hey Lida, were you at school on Saturday? Saturday? Why would I be at school on a Saturday?
For homecoming.
Yeah, I was there, who wasn't? Me.
Loser.
Let's check in with Jay Shane and Trevor Greenside for a recap on what went down last week.
Last week all of Del Oro came together to celebrate an awesome homecoming.
Now let's take a look back and see what happened on campus.
Last year
I thought that, you know I liked the theme a little
better last year, I really liked this theme as well.
I had a lot of fun this year, but I did
see a lot more people dressing up, especially in my grade.
I did see a lot more participation with sophomores this year.
I thought that this year's theme was a lot different than most year's. It seemed kind of repetative. Yeah this year's themes were more fun to work with.
It gave us broader options.
My favorite dress up day was -er day. I dressed up like Hermine Granger
because I am a total nerd and I love Harry Potter, so that was definately one of my favorite days.
The work nights were very stressful. Evryine was running around frantically
but they were a lot of fun. It was a fun stress.
That was sick!
Yeah, I can't wait for next year.
October is an awesome month! Why? I sit your birthday or something? No.
My birthday's in Februrary.
Then what's so cool about October?
Not only is it homecoming,
it's also Halloween time, but it's also a month to honor those in our lives
who have fought through the struggles of breast cancer.
Hey Del Oro, October is breast cancer awareness month, an dwe're here to tell you what you can do to support this cause.
For the entire month of October it's national breast cancer awareness month.
So Del Oro will be selling, in the student store, a unisex pink T-shirt
that says "Del Oro Supports the Cure".
Cancer has effected thousands around the world inlcuding people at our school,
including myself.
Breast cancer has definately impacted my family.
My wife and my Mom
have both had breast cancer.
We both have gotten through
the cancer treatments and...it's just it's scary when it effects your family,
especially when it's people that you love deeply.
I think it's about awareness,
you know, getting information out and letting people understand
that they've got to do
check ups, that this is a real serious issue that's effecting our society,
so getting information out's very important.
The shirts are $15. They're for sale right now and they'll be available
in the student store for the enitre month of October.
All of the money that's made from the shirts is going to be donated right
back to the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
Reporting for Del Oro news with photographer Will Richardson I'm Kobi Decker.
And you can check out the student store located in the cafeteria.
Every purchase of a breast cancer shirt will go to support breast cancer. November is
also a very important month this year.
This Novemebr all of America will vote to decide who will be the next president.
This year's candidates are our current president Barrack Obama, who will be running for
a second term in office. And Mitt Romney the former governor of Massachusetts.
On October 3rd Obama and Romney met in Denver, Colorado for a presidential debate.
Unexpectadly,
it was a rough night for our current president, Barrack Obama, who most say lost
to Mitt Romney.
We know most of us can't vote ye, but our time will come.
Yes it will,
but unitl then let's talk about some things that all of us can understand.
For our football fans out there Drew Brees, the quarterback for the New Orleans Saints,
has finally broken a record with a streak of 48 consecutive games
with a touchdown pass.
This record was previously set by John Unites, a quarterback for the Colts in
1952, who threw at least one touchdown pass for 47 games in
a row.
Drew Brees isn't the only one making history.
The song Gangnam style sung by Korean pop artist named Sy has broken the record
for the video with the most likes.
The catchy beat and funny dance got the video almost 4 million likes on youtube
and 408 million views and counting.
Some of this week's other popular music videos inlcude artists: One Direction,
Shere Loyd, Maroon 5, Chris Brown, and, of course, Rehana.
If you're into video games and you're an athlete this may interest you.
Now available- What if I like video games and I'm not an athlete?
Then maybe yous hould get up off the couch and go for a run.
Like I was saying, (inaudiable) 13 is now available on playstation 3, Xbox,
and Wii.
One last thing before we say our goodbyes.
