1st APPLE STORE IN LATIN AMERICA
Friday, February 14th, 2014
The traditional lining up for Apple fans started the day before the official opening
I didn't expect to be the first in the line.
It was by chance: I came here yesterday to check if there was a line already,
I was prepared to find out I was maybe one of the first 10 persons.
And then when I arrived around 10:20 AM the Apple employee who welcomed me outside
said I was the first in the line, so they put the sign here and everything. It was a surprise for me, really.
163 persons spent the night in VillageMall
This is not my first time in line in Apple events.
This is actually my third line.
The main difference between this event we have here today and the others I've been
is that we have this really cool space here to relax.
It's pretty awesome. Very cool, really.
We have to thank the mall organization for setting up all this structure for us, the costumers, right? [7,000+ apples, 15,000+ water bottles]
People who will spend hours and hours waiting for this event.
So this is really something new that I've never seen before in the others events I've been in.
I was surprised by VillageMall's receptivity since the very beginning.
I didn't expect to find accommodation like this for us to spend the night.
I came from Salvador. I wouldn't miss this for anything.
The space really surprised us.
We've covered other stores openings before and I think we've never seen
a place offer people a comfortable accommodation like this so we can spend the night comfy with water and food.
the next morning more persons joined the group
We arrived at 5:15 AM.
It's really cool. We're here waiting now - anxiously. We'll find out tomorrow.
Tomorrow? I mean, in a little while!
It was midnight when I arrived in VillageMall. I loved it.
I was super welcomed. It's totally organized, which is something I've never seen anywhere else.
We've been in lines in New York, Toronto, Vancouver, France, Australia, other places,
and it's super organized here, super comfortable.
I spent all night here in a conditioned room with clean bathrooms, water, food, everything perfect.
Now the line is quite long. It got crowded after 9 AM when they opened the gate.
There might be like around 1,000 people here for the grand opening.
I'm very excited about what I'll find there.
Genius Bar offering support. All the accessories and products people in other countries have,
now here close at hand for us in Rio de Janeiro. I'm so happy.
More than 1,700 persons at the moment of the opening
