Wraith King, Wraith Night, Legion Commander, and Dota 2's OFFICIAL release - wait, what?
All that and more coming up right now in the Dota 2 update, brought to you this time by
Origin!
Alright, so. Remember how they removed Skeleton King from the game last week? Well, if you
haven't played since then you might have missed the fact that he's back, but now he's called
Wraight King. Same abilities, same newbie-friend playstyle, but with a brand spankin' new character
model - cause see now he's a wraith instead of a skeleton. And incidentally his beard
looks like a croissant.
So with the addition of Wraith King comes a holiday event called Wraith-Night, which
Valve cleverly engineering as a backstory for why Skeleton King became Wraith King.
Whatever, it's fun. It's been going on for a few days now but if you haven't played yet,
it's KIND of like a tower defense in that waves of enemies of increasing difficulties
approach, and you have to defend your throne. The longer you defend it, the more Phantom
Fragments you earn, which can be redeem for lockless reliquaries. Group up with your friends
and see how far you can get!
And speaking of gaming with friends, remember to hit up our sponsor Origin - it lets you
connect with friends to see what game they're playing, chat, and invite them to play. You
can also browse the web, all without leaving your game.
Legion Commander has been added to the game! She's a melee strength hero with apparent
trust issues - according to her, you should never trust: an assassin, a wizard, a dragon,
a demon, a snake, a fish, a tree, an engineer, an insect, the dead, or a bear. Legiond Commander
also happens to be currently the only female Strength hero (unless you count Wisp whose
gender appears open to interpretation), so....girl power? or something like that
A new team has stepped forward to pick up the pieces left behind from Pretty Boy Swag
and Take Five: Team eHug. Consisting of sleisel, Ryu Uboru Z, Cak3z, ima_sheep(sux), and Pandaego,
who will be moving into the eHug gaming house in Brooklyn and start playing under the new
team in January. Go check 'em out on Twitter and Facebook to keep up with how they're doing!
Dota 2 is FINALLY officially released! Waaaaait a minute, haven't we been over this already?
Well, even though Dota came out of beta earlier this year, Valve actually still continued
to restrict access and require signups in order to gradually ramp up their infrastructure.
But after the most recent st of server management upgrades, they've officially removed all restrictions
- anyone and everyone can now join the 6.5 million active monthly users currently playing.
AND, if you recruit your friends, you guys both get additional battle bonuses!
THat's it for this week, as always be sure to subscribe if you haven't already, and give
this video a thumbs up for Dota! And remember to hit me up on Twitter @JessBrohard if you
wanna talk about Dota sometime! Thansk for watching, enjoy the game.
