My name is Ernesto Estigarribia and I’m originally from Paraguay. In August of 2008, my now teacher Dr. Selim Giray
went to Paraguay to give master classes and play a concert and I happened to be around.
So I went to his master class and since then we kept in touch and now I’m here. My major
is viola. Hopefully in four hours I’ll become a Junior in college, so, I have the exam today.”
Interviewer-“Is there one memory for you that kind of sticks out about Pitt State?”
Ernesto-“Definitely football. It’s exciting I mean, there’s a packed stadium of ten
thousand people watching the game and you see the colors it’s all red and gold and
this is amazing. I love being here. That’s all I have to say. I love being here I mean
everything is wonderful. People are so kind. In the music department people, man, that’s
like a family. So you feel people are so warm, so kind, it’s amazing.” Interviewer-“Any
words of advice that you would give to maybe friends back home?” Ernesto-“First of
all I think that this, I don’t know if people are aware of this, but this partnership between
Kansas and Paraguay, that we all have in-state tuition, that’s huge. That’s huge and
I don’t think everybody knows about that. So if you get a chance to study in any schools
in Kansas, especially Pitt state, do, do so.”
