Hello everybody, we are Salvo and Irene, staff M3 magazine.
Today we offer you the video review of Warframe, game produced by Digital Extremes, already discussed in the second issue of our Magazine, available here in the overlay.
Let's start by telling you that Warframe is an MMO action shooter in 3rd person developed by Digital Extremes, the same team who worked to create titles like The Darkness 2, the multiplayer segment of Bioshock 2, Dark Sector and, not surprisingly has the Warframe traits in common with the latter, such as the imprint action and the design of the reinforcement from the same title which takes its name.
In Warframe play as a Tenno, a warrior belonging to an ancient race who awakens from cryogenic sleep being in a world in turmoil.
Our virtual alter-ego face, during missions, fighting against many different opponents: the Grineer, soldiers humanoids who are masters of the Earth, humans infected by a mysterious virus and the Corpus, a greedy human corporation interested only in draw profits from the technology that underlies the armor Warframes; these are just the characteristic element that defines all the gameplay of this MMO.
Digital Extremes provides three different characters, both aesthetically and practically, Warframe models, available after the log-in screen: Excalibur, armor very versatile, ideal for those who approach for the first time in the game, Loki, can to create powerful illusions to confuse the opponent and turn the tide of battle; Volt, suitable for those seeking an approach more offensive to the game.
Other models Warframe can be purchased in item shop or you can create them, through the crafting system in the Forge. All Warframe have access to 4 unique abilities that allow the player to counter the numerical superiority of the enemy or infuse useful enhancements to the entire group.
The missions of Warframe all take place within structured maps on more levels, but with a rather intuitive and often required. The setting, purely sci-fi, ranging between starships and asteroids populated by enemies.
The objectives require the sabotage of enemy ships, recovery of artifacts, rescue hostages or even elimination of Boss which require cooperation among the members of the group who may receive as a reward components for the creation of new Warframe.
Unfortunately, both scenarios and missions after a few hours of game are repetitive due to a lack of variety of content. This succession of recycled elements can then lead to boredom soon and frankly the lack of unique elements in each map is bad enough.
The strength of the gameplay of Warframe is that you can switch between melee weapons to firearms adding tactical depth to combat and allowing a very dynamic movement characterized by tumbling, sliding, or shots, rewarding teamwork and exploitation of the environment .
A flaw of the game is definitely the the IA is clumsy and unable to adapt to the most 'lively' situations. Nevertheless enemies represent a significant degree of challenge due to their variety of approaches that will require different combat.
The graphic is well cared and it allows you to take full advantage of the latest generation of video cards and libraries DX11.
Some difficulties may arise during the game among players because of the hosting system that competes who first brought the scenario even if the situation seems to have improved with the lastest update introduced.
The weapons made available are of three types: primary and secondary firearm, and a melee weapon. Currently, however, the choice among the variety of weapons to use is quite limited, although new weapons are constantly being added with the update.
Weapons and armor can be purchased through the shop using real money or crafted in the Forge using materials collected during games.
The crafting of a weapon does not require an overdose of time while creating a Warframe is a practice longer that forces the player to repeat several times the final bosses of certain areas to get the projects needed to the building.
Due to the randomness of the rewards, this procedure is very repetitive and penalizes players who do not spend real money in item shop to purchase the items themselves.
In conclusion Warframe is a good choice for a cooperative game online, as it has much untapped potential currently, but remember that it is currently in beta stage and that the development team is very attentive to the needs and feedback of the players continuing to add new content and refining the technical side.
