Hi!
Check this out quickly.
I didn't find a lamp but I found a small flower.
Look how cute this is!
Look at this!
I'm gonna let it here,
so it appears in the video.
Hi, everything ok with you?
I'm here today
to talk about one more of my compositions.
This is the channel CRU
where I share with you
all the events behind the song.
The song of today is called CHEGA (ENOUGH).
It has many peculiarities.
For example, when I wrote this song I was living in Niteroi (RJ, Brazil).
I lived in Niteroi during 2005 and half of 2006.
I just got there at Rio de Janeiro ( the State, not the city),
I wasn't really inside of the Samba world yet.
Back then, there were almost, let's say, 30 years,
that I used to play MPB (Brazilian Popular Music).
This influence doesn't end from one day to the other.
So, the song shows this influence,
especially of MPB,
but I was already trying
harder and with much focus,
to write a samba in the traditional way.
I wrote this song,
I know exactly where.
At Suely Mesquita's place.
(A very "Niteroi" way to say "at Suely's place.)
A great musician and an awesome composer.
By the way, this song is a partnership of me
with Suely Mesquita.
Let me tell you how this happened.
When I moved to Rio de Janeiro,
actually I moved to Niteroi.
It was a very good time.
I was leaving a life style behind me
to get in another life style,
and dive right in the Music field.
I started writing this song at her place.
We met each other practically every day.
We were "wall" neighbors.
And I remember it was
a time when I listened samba all the time
coz I wanted to understand how samba works.
How could I sing samba in the traditional way
without being born in the samba world?
I listened to samba all the time, all the time.
But also,
this song has a huge influence
of Suely's compositions also.
Hours and hours listening to samba
and hours and hours listening to Suely's.
Then it got everything mixed.
Like Brazilian blood...
All mixed, right?
That's how it is.
I started this song at Suely's
and finished it at Germana Guilhermme's,
who is another awesome singer, composer,
wonderful actress
and also used to live in Niteroi back then.
Germana had a small house
in a village,
in the middle of Niteroi.
It was like a house taken from a movie, you know?
It was something, that little house was something.
It had a balcony
with a small brick wall around it.
We use to sit there...
It was amazing!
I took my guitar, set on that little
white brick wall with a blue big wall.
I remember it as it was today.
or was it the other way around?
And right there I made the end,
finished composing this song.
And the song was with a whole
in the middle of the verse.
I started with the chorus
and wrote the first verse
and the second one didn't show up, no matter what.
So, I decided to ask Suely.
It was an honor for me. :-)
Thanks, Su!
For a while, I was so obsessed with this song.
I used to play it all the time,
I wanted to sing it non-stop.
I found it the best song ever.
Funny, hun?
As inspiration for this song,
I took the song "Noites Cariocas" (Carioca Nights) from Jacob do Bandolim.
It became a song that I really like,
that is interesting,
and has lyrics that I adore.
I find it so cool.
It made me proud
of having written it, you know?
Many good memories from a time
when I assumed the control of my life
and said no, not there, this way.
We go this way.
Yeah? Long time ago.
an almost small accident...
Ih, I almost dropped the flower!
Gee!
I mustn't drop it, I gonna put it here.
but it was everything alright.
So, I told you.
There are many things about this song.
I find it cool where there are many things to say...
Then you say this, then that,
then another thing...
This song belongs also
to that phase of songs about "ending relationships".
About that moment when the person realizes:
Indeed, it just can't go on like this.
I'm here left alone at home,
while the other one is outside...
Or I'm at a bar somewhere
waiting the whole night, all beautiful,
elegant, good looking, perfumed
and the other one stand me up
but so much, so big...
This is this moment.
It's when the penny drops.
It's the Drop of the Penny.
Enough!
Enough with stopping everything
to wait you
come back
Enough with keeping the flame burning
on the table
in a bar.
Enough with hugging a blanket
it's over.
Enough with going round, making a thousand turns
without leaving the same place
where it all began.
Past has already past.
Past was already dressed and crumpled.
Past has already past.
Past was already dressed and crumpled.
Past was already dressed and even crumpled.
Past was already dressed and even crumpled.
Enough with stopping everything
to wait you
come back
Enough with keeping the flame burning
on the table
in a bar.
Enough with hugging a blanket
it's over.
Enough with going round, making a thousand turns
without leaving the same place
where it all began.
Past has already past.
Past was already dressed and crumpled.
Past has already past.
Past was already dressed and crumpled.
Past was already dressed and even crumpled.
Past was already dressed and even crumpled.
Past was already dressed and even crumpled.
Past was already dressed and even crumpled.
I hope you enjoy it.
Thank you for your business.
Please come again.
This is the channel CRU
and you all are very welcome in my little place.
Bye and see you next week.
But this ended up so cool!
It's a tone-on-tone,
dégradé.
Most fashionable!
MOST OF AAAAALL!
Uh, mommy!
