The Alan Parsons’ Art & Science Of Sound Recording Educational License is an app to
be installed on workstations in a school or college music or audio lab.
The Educational License comprises 10 hours of instructional video from the award-winning
DVD set. Once the app is installed, the videos play locally on each individual workstation.
You don’t have to load a DVD and you don’t have to be online.
The install process – for both Mac and PC - is quick and easy. It takes around 15-20
minutes to install 24 high quality videos along with a dedicated video browser.
Open the application and the video browser displays icons for the first 5 videos in the
series.
Here is Video #1, “A Brief History of Recording.”
You can play the videos “full-screen” if you wish.
Here is Video #2, “Studio Acoustics.” You can scrub the timeline and you can check
out which other videos are available without leaving the one you’re watching.
You can go straight to a particular part of each video from the list of topics in the
Lesson Guide.
If you’re connected to the internet, you can visit the main ASSR website, and ask a
question on the forums. Alan Parsons may even give you a personal reply!
Students can also register on the ASSR website under their school name and then visit the
Student Center.
Students can take a quiz on each individual video in the series to reinforce the learning
process. Teachers can see the quiz results to monitor how well students are doing.
The Student Center also contains uncompressed audio files of material contained in the videos.
Both students and schools can buy music production and recording equipment from KEYFAX NewMedia,
who has been a reseller and recording consultant for over 15 years.
The Educational License is the best way to use this award-winning video series for music
recording and audio education.
For teachers, the Educational License saves valuable time with basic instruction. For
students, they can now refer to this encyclopedia any time they need… even right in the middle
of a project!
The invaluable connection to Alan Parsons on the forums, the online quizzes and the
ability to purchase equipment at special education prices complete a package of instruction and
golden opportunities that will enhance instruction in music production and audio engineering
for many years to come.
