Hi, this is a tutorial howto use the opensource audiolooping software
"sooperlooper" on a mac.
Requirements are: the softwares sooperlooper itselves
Jack, and here its control software jack pilot,
which is an originaly Linux audioserver software and makes it possible for any
software on your computer to connect audio inputs and outputs
crisscross and together and with the physical ins/outs of your computer.
Later we will use a midi device, like the behringer fcb 1010, to control the looping
process with feet to have free hands.
First we have to tell osx that we have an audiointerface for jack.
It is not enough to just plug it in beause the latency will be very high!
start the osx audio and midi setup (this might look different on leopard and snow
leopard)
Here you can see al ins and outs of your audio devices
i now plug in my behringer uca202 via usb ...
the ins and outs automatically appear on the list. But this is not enough to use it
for low latency applications
before that we have to create a (maybe in english so called) dedicated device.
click on the "plus" symbol, give it a name for later identification
now i add ins and outs to that virtual device, i choose the 2 behringer ins and
outs.
now i start jackpilot, the jack server is not yet running until i press the start button
Before that i look into the preferences
i see here that everything yet is right, my just created behringer dedicated device is
selected, bitrate and buffer are well chosen... i have two ins and two outs
start jack server
This was the first part of my tutorial, follow me to part two...
