What’s your top tip for building a website?
Roddy Scaife Adaptive Consultancy
“My top tip for building a website is making sure you get a balance between a good
website but also having a budget for your marketing because without a marketing
budget you won’t have people and you potentially won’t have sales from that

“I think if you’re going to have a website built, you need to use a professional
company to do it. There are so many off the shelf solutions which look okay to a
business start up but when you actually get down to it, it’s very difficult to have
a website that will compete online if it’s
an off the shelf product. So if you can get some investment together, use a professional
company that’s got a track record of delivering a site that will perform against
your competition because having a website out there, that is only able to be marketed
offline, is not going to give you the ecommerce business you’re probably looking
for.”

“I’ve had a number of different experiences with building websites and failing them
for different businesses. I think my number one tip is you have to trust your web
designer, you have to make sure that the specification you give them is absolutely spot
on. Get someone else to go through it first. As soon as that spec is with the web
designer or the web developer, then if they miss something out and it wasn’t in there,
you’re paying extra.”
