Hi This is Rachel - and this is Kendra - and you're watching This Week in TV. We have some
exciting premieres and finales this week. It's also one of the most exciting TV events
of the year, Shark Week, on the Discovery channel. So, in honor of this Kendra and I
will then talk about our favorite TV sharks. First, Kendra, what's on?
K: Well Rachel, on Monday we have The Bachelorette finale and the After The Final Rose special
on ABC starting at 8pm. On Tuesday, "Take the Money and Run" premieres on ABC at 9,
and on Wednesday, ABC Family is having a State of Georgia 4-episode mini-marathon beginning
at 9. Then on Thursday, Jersey Shore makes its Season 4, aka the Italy season, premiere
on MTV at 10pm. Shore fans should also not miss the return of SideReel's original Jersey
Shore spoof web series, The Jersey Sox as it returns for all new drama with our favorite
overly tan sock puppets. Finally on Friday, "Friends With Benefits" has its series premiere
on NBC at 8. But that's not all for TV excitement for the week, what else is going on, Rachel?
R: Well, Kendra, we'll have to make room on our schedules for Shark Week specials airing
nightly all week long. Some highlights include Rogue Sharks, monday at 9, Killer sharks,
tuesday at 9, Shark City Thursday at 9 - which will include an appearance by this year's
chief shark officer, Andy Samberg, and 10 deadliest sharks, friday at 8. Get the full
Shark Week schedule on SideReel.
R: So, in honor of shark week, Kendra and I started thinking about our favorite TV "sharks".
We are, of course, referring to figurative sharks - which the dictionary defines as a
crafty person that often takes advantage of others through devious means. So, Kendra,
tell us about some of your favorite TV sharks. K: Well, I have three TV businessman picks
who are all always out for the kill! The first is is Ari Gold of Entourage. Ari is such a
terrifying shark of a businessman, and man in general, that it takes a very special guy
like the adorable Lloyd to survive working for him without having a heart attack or ulcer…
though occasionally it's been rough even for Lloyd.
K: My next pick is Mad Men's Don Draper. As all Mad Men fans know, this guy is so good
he can drink, nap and 'you know what else' in the middle of a business day and still
make an outstandingly better sales pitch than the guys and gals at his office working 24/7.
K: My last pick is no other than the man who lives for suits and scotch, 30 Rock's Jack
Donaghy. While he may have a soft side for Liz Lemon, he never, ever quits when it comes
to getting ahead and even when he has to embarrass himself to do it, he does it with such style,
we'll always respect him more than the honorable Kenneth. So, those are our manly shark picks,
how about the ladies of TV, Rachel?
R: Well, first up we've got Glee's Sue Sylvester. As we've witnessed, THis lady shark has no
qualms crushing the dreams of innocent high school Glee club members - or at least trying
to - to suit her own needs.
R: My second pick goes to Gossip Girl's Blair, who has definitely proven herself to be a
shark in the Upper East Side's social scene. That girl never stops lying and scheming,
and we love her all the more for it.
R: Finally, for a classic pick, SATC's Samantha Jones definitely proved herself a shark once
she set her eyes on her latest male prey. Other ladies certainly didn't stand a chance
- nor did whichever guy Samantha set her sights upon.
K: That's it for this week, stay tuned to SideReel's Facebook and Twitter for more TV
news and buzz.
