Hey T-Mates
It is Alliy
It's Tuesday
And this week our topic is Periods or Period Dysphoria
This is a pretty straight forward topic so
It probably won't be a super long video
Maybe
For, when Ky was still having a period
We didn't really use any special words
We just said the word period
We didn't talk about it often
He preferred not to talk about it
So we just said the word period
And he would tell me if he started
Ky was actually on
Birth Control for a long time
Because he has HORRIBLE cramps
Like debilitating
I've never seen somebody with cramps that bad
I mean he was miserable
In regards to what to use
Ky would not use pads at all, refused
So he used tampons when he still had a period
And we actually use the same kind
So if he needed me to carry one
I usually carried it in my purse for him
He didn't like them to accidentally stick out of his pocket or anything
So I would carry them for him
And we would just kind of share the same box
Since we used the same kind
Since starting testosterone Ky was
Kind of magically hoping it would stop after the first shot
So in the first 2 months of starting testosterone
He's at almost 8 months now
He did have 2 periods
Those were probably the most dysphoric periods I'd seen Ky have
Just because he was expecting not to have one
But as of now no more periods which is great
Because he just-uh
I would imagine
Who really likes having a period anyway
Even if you're female born, you know haha
So for the first two years before he came out as transgender to me
He did hate having a period
He hated how gross it was
Just thought it was disgusting, hated that part
Hated everything about it
Never made him feel
He said he never really had that experience where he felt like a woman when he started
his period
He just felt like there was something wrong with him
Because he was bleeding
So I didn't really understand that as dysphoria
When we were first dating
Or when he was having them still identifying as female
I just figured he hated bleeding
Because its not very sani-- it's gross
From there after he came out as trans
He would have one and he really would struggle
I found ways to kind of build up his masculinity
While he was having a period
So instead of just saying you know
Brushing it under the rug
I wouldn't really talk about him having a period
But I would say, Oh you look really handsome today
Or oh my gosh your shoulders, they're so broad
Or is that new facial hair haha
Just things to make him feel more secure in his masculinity
To kind of hopefully
To not feel so dysphoric about having something that is so
Feminine
So really with the dysphoria
I think if he had a period now it would be the end of the world
Just because he's so
I mean he's said on so many occasions
I'm so so thankful I don't have a period anymore
Or whenever I have my period
He's just like, I don't miss that oh my god
Really when it comes to periods
I think
I don't know
I really want to say I think that's a typical response
I don't know though
I haven't met--
Well I mean I have a lot of transguy friends
And pretty much none of them
Except for the guys pre-t have periods
And none of them, they don't really talk about it
I guess it's just not a topic of conversation, haha
So just in general
My advice for that
The subtle compliments have worked really well
Just making him feel better
I would imagine I mean
Any time he would go to the bathroom it would be a bummer
Just in general I don't know
Just try to stroke his ego, pump him up a little bit about
You know how, manly he is
I don't know
So that's worked for us
And hopefully it can work for some other people or couples too
Or friends
So really like I said
I said in the beginning this was going to be a short topic
Because it is very straight forward
If anybody has any questions about anything else we did
Or any questions about periods or starting testosterone or anything
Feel free to leave comments
Or video responses whatever the case
I'd be more than happy to discuss that further
But that is going to wrap up this Tuesday T-Mates
And we will see you next week
Bye-bye
