Hi I'm Carla Mechele -- here to help you really "Know Jax" -- and explore our city!
Can you believe fall is almost here? That means one of Jacksonville's favorite festivals
is back. Don't miss the Amelia Island Blues Festival. This free concert opens up with
the Fernandina Beach High School Blues in School Band performing with Roger "Hurricane"
Wilson. They're opening up for blues master Albert Castiglia. It all starts Friday, September
13th at 6 p.m. on Centre Street in Amelia Island.
This event is three shows in one -- that's why it's called the GREAT OUTDOORS event...This
weekend combines the The First Coast Boat Show, The RV And Motor Sport Jamboree, and
The Fall Hunting And Outdoor Expo. Whether you're looking for a new boat, equipment,
or wanna learn the latest fishing techniques, you'll find everything you need. This event
is at the Prime Osborn Convention Center, Saturday, September 7th through the 9th.
A few weeks ago I was on Facebook and saw a few of my friends "Check-In" at Corks Arts
District. I live in Riverside, so I walked a few blocks and checked it out. I have to
say I was blown away by how cool it was! It's a huge warehouse full of artist studios and
galleries. If you haven't been, and you enjoy funky art and a cool vibe, it's a must-see.
The next "Artist in Residence Showcase" is Daniel Newman. That's at Cork Arts District
on Rosselle Street in Riverside.
Those are my top picks -- now, go out and have fun! I'd love to hear about it and see
pictures too, so Tweet or Facebook us at iknowjax. Follow us at iknowjax on Instagram. To add
an event to the calendar, email us at events@iknowjax.com.
Alright, see you later. Peace, Love and Blessings for your week!
