The purpose of this video is to introduce you to "Show Me" as it relates to your vocabulary
learning. Every week you will go this app and you will learn new vocabulary words and
you will record what you see and hear in the Show Me videos into your vocabulary journals.
So let's get started. The first thing you're going to do is you're going to divide your
paper, your notebook, into four quadrants, like you see here. In the upper left hand
corner you will write the new vocabulary word. In this case you are learning the word adhesive.
It's also important to remember to include the part of speech. It this case it's a noun.
In the upper right hand corner you will write a definition. In some cases there will be
more than one definition and you should choose to write the definitions that make the most
sense to you. So an adhesive is a sticky substance or glue. In the lower left hand corner you
should draw a picture to help you remember this word. In this case, I'm drawing a glue
bottle. If that makes sense to you and will help you remember this word, you should draw
it too. But if you have a different example remember to draw what makes sense. After all,
this is your vocabulary learning! In the lower right hand corner is a sentence. I want you
to try and use the word, in this case, adhesive, in a sentence. Again, make sure it makes sense
to you. I have a sentence starter here for you and so it might be helpful to fill in
the blanks with the word adhesive and other words to help you remember. So in this case,
I need an adhesive to stick blank to blank. What would you think would make sense in this
sentence? This is how you will go about learning all your vocabulary words for the week. There
will be five words each week and they will all be based on a root. Thanks for listening!
Happy vocabulary learning!
