Open chord shapes. Open chord shapes refers to chord shapes that have open strings in
their voicing of them. And really, it only boils down to five different chords. An easy
way to remember it is by the word caged, C-A-G-E-D. And those are your five basic open chords.
C, A, G, E, And D.

caged chords in a finger style manner. [playing guitar] So that's a good example of the open
chord shapes, and how you might finger pick them.
