I'm never going to get this paper for my distance ed course done on time.
Why did I think that I could do this on my own?
I'm running out of ideas, I'm running out of time. I'll just search the Internet.
One hundred and ninety-three million results! I, I don't know where to start. There's just
too much stuff here. Recipe for green cheese dip, what?
I know, I'll ask the library for help. See, contact us. Oh wow! There's actually
a lot of ways to get help even from far away. Call them, email them, chat, text, request
a research consultation or meet them in person. Yeah, right. Like a could talk to a librarian
from the moon. In my dreams. Do you need some assistance?
Where am I? Who are you? I'm a reference librarian at the University
of Georgia. I'm here to help you do your research. Come with me!
Wait, am I dreaming? Absolutely. But most importantly, our first
stop is the reference desk where you can get help from a librarian during library hours.
While face-to-face help might be challenging if you are moon-bound, you can still call
us, you can do virtual chat,or you can email your questions to us.
Great! Let's go to our second stop, the computer
lab. So, take a seat. So the multi-search box on
the libraries' homepage is a really good place to start.
Let's see if we can find materials on your topic. What is your topic?
The nutritional properties of green cheese. Okay. Let's try green cheese in the search
box. So, multi-search just found 16,000 thousand
results almost. Now let's see if we can limit that a little bit.
Let's try adding another search term. Okay, let's add moon to the search.
Yeah, this is way more manageable. I like that one.
This is great, but how do it get to the articles? To get full-text access you want to click
on the Find-it-at-UGA button. Keep in mind, that when you are moon-bound
or anywhere else off campus, you're going to need the GALILEO password.
Okay, how do I get that password? Good question. Click on the GALILEO password
link on the library homepage and then enter your personal information.
Now remember, the password changes each semester. Okay. Is there all there is?
Not even close, we're actually just skimming the surface here. We have more than five hundred
databases arranged by subject. So let's look at food and nutrition.
There's a lot of databases here that I've never even heard of. What if I need more assistance?
I want to talk to someone that knows my subject. You're in luck. We actually have a number
of different subject specialists who can help you with your individual assignment.
Let's go meet them right now. Great!
Since your topic is nutrition, you'll want to talk to Elizabeth, down there.
Hi, I'm Elizabeth. Do you want to pull up a chair and tell me about your topic?
Sure. Okay, so yeah, just put it right there.
Thanks so much. Did you get all the help that you needed?
Yes, I got a lot of really awesome resources that are going to be invaluable in helping
me with my assignment. I just have one more question.
How do I get back to the moon? I know, like click my heels together or something.
That's not necessary, but if it works for you, go ahead.
Weird!
