Hi, everyone. I'm Melissa and welcome to the second part of my series on potty training.
We've already covered what are the signs that your child is ready to potty train, and today
I'm gonna be talking about what are the different pieces of equipment that you need to have
on hand to make sure that potty training goes as smoothly as possible. So, here is a quick
slide to run through the pieces of equipment that we are gonna be talking about today.
You are gonna need a child potty chair, a child toilet seat adapter, a toilet step or
a bench, pull-ups and undies, and a potty book. So, I've brought some of my pieces of
equipment in from the bathroom, I'm gonna quickly run through these with you. Okay,
first of all, a potty. Find something that your child really likes. This was the favorite
potty of my daughter, Annaliese, and it was really cute and it actually played music before
that broke, so she loved that. I had more unisex versions for my boys and she uses those
too. And another great thing that I think is good to have on hand as well is, and this
stuff has all been cleaned, is an adapter. This is an adapter, okay? Now, this can be
put right on the potty and your child can step up to the potty, feeling like a very
big kid and sit on the adapter. So, it's nice to have both things because it gives them
a choice. Similarly, the step of the bench is great, because then your child can get
up on his own, it's also great for washing hands. You can get one that specifically made
for the bathroom or you can just use a bench that you might have in your child's bedroom.
I'm gonna show you Marielle's, here it is. I've got one of these for each of my kids,
unfortunately now we're missing some of the letters. So, this is great for potty training.
Okay, checking my list, so, da, da, da, okay, pull-ups and undies. Some people use pull-ups,
which is basically like Swimmies underwear, except it's more absorbent. Some people use
these, actually, for potty training, and the baby or child just gets in the habit of pulling
up and down the pull-up and then going to the bathroom. I did not do this, I went for
the underwear and just put the pull-up on during nap time and at night. With underwear,
I would go with my child and pick out some fancy pansy fun underwear at the store. Here's
some I've already gotten for Marielle. For boys, I got characters and boats and firemen
and all sorts of fun things, Batman, Spiderman, all the characters, just to get her excited.
So, you're gonna need plenty of underwear. And I've gone through pull-ups. Okay, finally,
books. I've really had a lot of success with potty books. These are my two favorite books.
We read them again and again, and again. I know the one for the girls by heart because
it was Annaliese's favorite book, she wanted to read it every night. And I think these
are great for just going through the whole process of potty training from the toilet
paper to the potty to the flushing to the hand washing, just getting your child ready
and prepared. So, these are the things that I think would be great to have on hand. If
you have other pieces of equipment that you use, please comment on my site and let me
know what they were. Stay tuned for part three where we're gonna be walking through how to
actually do the thing in potty train and thank you so much for watching CloudMom.
