Thank you for visiting me on the internet
In this video I will be reviewing
five habits of successful students.
your chances of success will be greatly improved if you practice the five
habits on a daily basis
you already know them
so they shouldn’t be too hard to do
the first habit is to be on time for each of your classes
students you have this habit find themselves getting enough sleep
waking up with enough time to get a class
and make sure they walk quickly to each of their classes during the day
it doesn't seem like a such a hard habit to start or continue, but
for some reason
this one in especially difficult for my first period student
the second habit is called your toolkit
your tool kit for my class will include a pencil
I like mechanical pencils myself
scientific calculator
binder or graph paper
three colored pencil
and a protractor
your working must be done in pencil in my class I will not accept
work done in ink
The third habit is perseverance.
This is probably one of the most important habits
and the hardest to master
because the material will be difficult at times, it is important for you to
Persevere through it.
When you find the material difficult, there are several things
…that you can do that will help.
Number one
Think positively
acknowledging that the material is difficult but not impossible will help
Number two
Get help from someone.
This could be someone in class,
it could be me,
or it could be a family member,
or it could be one of your friends.
Number three
never give up!
Giving up is not an option.
I will work with you before and after school if you need it
just ask me either in person,
through email or by calling me via Skype or Facebook
The fourth habit desire to learn the material
I can't make it happen for you.
I promise to do my best
to make the material interesting
I also promise to slow down and clarify the material when you ask
your job will be to stay focused during the instruction
you'll be doing work mainly with a partner or in a small group
Each of you will need to help the other to solve the problems
This will require your understanding of the material
So please do not sabotage your own learning
by becoming distracted.
The fifth habit is to ask questions when you are confused
Please do not wait for two or three questions to go by before you ask for help
Ask me to stop and clarify immediately
This actually will help everyone in the class
I look forward to working with you this year
I consider myself a good teacher
And I know you’re a good student
…but I need your participation
for this to be an amazing experience
Remember you define your future by your actions of today
Well, that’s it for now
