Pentek HT-20 High Temperature Water Filter This is a 20 inch, whole house, high temperature
water filter. Obviously designed for your hot water line and designed for a situation
that requires greater flow. There is a smaller version of this, the HT-10. This is for whole
house applications or applications that require greater flow because it receives these large
20 inch long, 2 ½ inch diameter cartridges. Obviously a filter housing like this will
require high temperature cartridges. This is a 10 micron polypropylene string wound
sediment cartridge, good to 165 degrees, and this is a 10 micron carbon block, the EPM-20,
good to 180 degrees. That’s going to be for taste and odor improvement.
And there are a number of applications that can utilize these high temperature housings.
You might have an outdoor hot water heater that pumps hot water through pipes into the
home. You might have a boiler that is precipitating mineral content and you want to capture that
precipitant with a filter. You might have a hardness problem that maybe you can’t
use a water softener or you don’t want to and it’s precipitating minerals in the form
of little granules in your water, in your hot water heater. So you put this post water
heater to captures those things. Any number of applications that require a
high temperature housing, but don’t try and use a regular filter housing on a high
temperature line, it will deteriorate it rapidly and possibly burst and cause a flood. Obviously
that would be pretty bad. So this is the HT-20 made of special material,
good to well beyond 160 degrees Fahrenheit. It has ¾ inch female pipe thread inlet-outlets,
and it utilizes a special non-rubber, silicone O-ring. There’s that O-ring, and this is
a special high temperature silicone based O-ring, and you lubricate that with the same
lubricant as the regular temperature O-ring, the food grade silicone grease.
That is the HT-20.
