My name is Stephanie Heath and I'm the recruitment coordinator
for the Jerry and Vickie Moyes College of Education
at Weber State University,
and since somebody has already asked me today,
Weber State is in Ogden.
So that....now you know...and, uh, we have various degrees
in our teacher education program.
We have our Early Childhood Education (pre-K
through 3) our Elementary Education (K through 6),
and we also have a one-eight license extension
that you can do, um, some additional courses
that you can extend your license through 8th grade,
and then we also have our Secondary Education
(6-12)...various content areas
and I've got additional information
about the various content areas that we offer.
Then we have our Special Education degree:
mild-to-moderate k-12...so I'll be over at that table,
you can ask me any questions about those particular programs.
If you come in with your Associate's degree, it transfers
over directly as though you have your General Education
requirements taken care of; however,
I just ask that you be aware of making sure that the courses
that you take here at SLCC transfer over as prerequisites
for the programs that we have.
Just because you take Sociology
as a general education requirement here
for Social Sciences, we require Human Development.
So make sure you're taking the correct Social Science general
education course for....Whether you come to Weber
or whether you come to any of the schools in the state,
so make sure you're taking the correct prerequisites
as you're coming through the programs.
A neat thing about our Teacher Education program is
that we've got a very active Future Educator Association
professional on campus and we're the only registered FEA
professional club in the state, and we have....we're one
of about a dozen in the entire country.
We're nationally recognized as having that progam
and we have our students go into the schools a lot and...just
in that social environment for that program,
so if you have...if you want any more information about our FEA,
I'm the advisor for that on campus as well.
Another thing is, if you want
to transfer before you have your Associate's degree,
we've got some Bridging Scholarships for students,
ranging anywhere between $500/semester to $1,000/semester
for students who want to be educators,
and we also have scholarships available for students who are
in a teacher education already.
In order to apply to the Teacher Education Program,
you have to have your general education requirements taken
care of and then 40 semester hours completed,
and then I have an entire checklist of everything
that you're going to need to have.
As far as deadlines, our concern....if you're looking
to transfer this next year...our Fall Semester deadline
for the Teacher Education program has passed,
and that was February 11th, so for Spring
of 2012 our application deadline for adminssion
to the Teacher Education program is September 16th; however,
one of your requirements to apply
to the Teacher Ed program is the CAP Test,
which is the Collegiate Assessment
of Academic Proficiency, which you would have to take
at the Ogden Campus at our Testing Center.
And so, the registration dates for the test May 23rd
and August 29th for the CAP Test dates of June 4th
and September 10th, and I have a handout if you wanted
to pick one of those up with the dates on it.
We'll be doing candidate interviews the end of September
and registration for Spring Semester begins November 7th.
So if you have any additional questions or any questions
at all, um....come see me at the table afterwards.
