Just an hour ago I started to fish and now I can hold this grass carp weighing 9.5 kg in my hands.
I caught it on a combi rig that I am going to show you tomorrow.
The bait was a half of a Squid & Octopus Strawberry bottom bait,
that I balanced with a half C2 pop up.
Hi everyone! I am here at my favourite lake!
As I told you in the intro,
in this part I am going to show you how I tie my favorite combi rig.
Before I start to make it, let me show you a beautiful carp,
that I caught early morning.
Look, how beautiful it is!
15,40 kg
This carp is my first catch of the season, and it was caught on a combi rig.
Let me release it and then I will show you how to tie this hooklink.
Let's see how to make a rig, combined with a soft hair and a rigid, invisible fluorocarbon hooklink?
We are going to need
a fluorocarbon hooklink,
a soft braided hooklink,
a hook,
a line aligner,
a small piece of silicone tube,
and of course the hookbait that we would like to use.
First of all, I cut a little piece of the soft, braided hooklink,
and splice the hookbait on it.
I push the line from the back of the eye and fix it with a simple knot.
I like to use a small piece of silicone tube on the shank of the hook,
the same way I do this if I tie a blow-back rig.
After this I take the fluorocarbon hooklink,
that I push through the eye of the hook and then tie with a knotless knot.
When this has been done, I cut the tag ends.
Finally, for perfect hook movement I always use a line aligner,
which also has a second role: it protects the knot.
The advantage of this rig is, that it doesn't tangle at all,
and it’s invisible under the water.
The soft hooklink used for the hair secures a free, nice movement for the hookbait,
and the rigid, fluorocarbon hooklink makes the whole rig really hard to blow out.
Just another tip; what hookbait to choose!
My experience is, that this combi rig works mostly,
if I use any kind of balanced hookbait.
It can be a single, wafter hookbait,
or a snowman,
or what I am using now: half of bottom bait combined with a half a pop up.
I really recommend to try it out, this is one of my favourites and it always does it's job perfectly.
I have caught this beauty on this rig, it performed great again!
I wish you all catches like these! Cheers!
