The common house mouse is from Central Asia and now lives worldwide. The Latin word for
mouse is "Mus", which means "to steal". The easiest way to tell if your house or school
has mice is to look for their droppings. They are usually between 3 and 6 millimeters in
length. Droppings are found where mice are most active. They can be found in chewed cardboard
boxes, in drawers, and under stoves and sinks. It is important to keep these areas clutter
free to prevent mice from moving in.
Seal any gaps and holes and install door sweeps.
Even a quarter inch is enough space for a mouse to get through. Repair any holes or previous
damage. It's also important to keep food in proper storage containers.
Mouse urine fluoresces under a black light, you can use this to find out where mice have been traveling. Follow
the recommendations from the centers for disease control when cleaning up feces and urine.
Mouse feces can carry a number of diseases, therefore, it is important to follow proper
clean up procedures.
