Hi
I'm Alex de Grassi and I was just playing an excerpt from my arrangement of the cowboy song
"Bury Me Not On The Lone Prairie"
This is sort of the reggae section of the peace and we're gonna learn how to play it
in a series of three mini lessons and we're gonna talk about the
techniques behind it which you can also
read about in my new book "The Alex De Grassi Fingerstyle Guitar Method"
So we're gonna talk about three techniques in this lesson. We're gonna talk about
dynamics. We're going to talk about duration.
And we're gonna talk about texture. We're going to begin with duration.
So, I've got a bass note on the D here- It's a drop D tuning
So, bring that bass down
and now we're gonna play an E Minor chord, an E Minor 7th like this
we gonna have the thumb of the right hand (The "P")
on the 6th string and the "IMA" fingers
on the, 3rd, and 2nd strings.
We're gonna start with an E Minor Chord we're gonna play bass
then return the thumb to stop it... play the chords
bring the fingers down to stop it
let's do it in time - one
one - two - three - four
one - two - three - four
now let's go to an A sus Chord
now all we have to do is move that first finger over from the 6th string to the 4th string
on that same fret the second fret with the p
on the 5th string were gonna play one - two
three - four
one - two
three - four
Alright, and the final chord is a B Minor
We're gonna play the B Minor with a second-string open
so it's a its kinda a 1 - 5 - 1 power chord
so that B Minor is two - three - four
one - two - three - four
two - three
So we're stopping the strings with the right hand and that controls the note duration
let's try one more time and let's keep everything a little more
staccato we're gonna go one - two three - four
one - two - three - four
one - two - three - four
B Minor one - two - three - four
alright we're gonna
follow up with lessons two and three here and we'll talk
about the other aspects dynamics and texture thanks for listening
