Hi Guys, and welcome back to the brand new series of Hair with Hollie on Videojug. Today
what we're going to be doing is a retro bouffant style, so a gorgeous sixties up-do, very Mad
Men.

So it looks like we're going to start with a deep side parting which would make the feature
at the front of the hair. Just using your brow and the arch of your brow at the eyes,
make your parting here.
Now, we're going to section off the hair first of all, using the ear as a guide, split the
head in half, and pop this out of the way. So you want to get about half your hair, and
we're going to pin this up out of the way, and we'll come back to it later on.
So on this hair we're just going to concentrate on getting the bottom bump, which is quite
easy to do. So just work in a comb here, just run your comb back towards the roots. Just
go down the lines of the hair like that. Just makes it a bit more solid so you can roll
it up.
Before you start rolling it, it's a nice idea to give it a quick spritz of hairspray, cause
it makes the hair look sticky, so it will be easier to work with.
Just like that. And curvy grips at the ready, we're going to start to roll. So you want
to keep the hair to be kind of like one solid piece. Just using your fingers, just roll
up towards the head. Again, you're looking for the center piece to be just your anchor,
so don't worry if the side is a bit messy.
You want this to come up to your split, so we're talking about halfway down. You can
see this split in the hair. And then anchor the middle bit with a curvy barrette: practically
the same shade as your hair, that looks good.
Once you're happy with the height and the volume, you can start fixing side bits into
place. So just using your comb, you want to cover over any of the knots. And again, don't
worry if it's a bit messy, because we have all this hair up here to take care of as well,
which will cover some of the knots down here.
Okay. Once you're happy with your back bump, we're going to section this top part into
three sections. The front part is going to be your bangs or your fringe or just your
front bit that you are not going to back comb. The middle bit is going to be the hair that
covers up the knots that make up the bump. The front bit is fringe; the middle bit spare
hair, and then your back bit is your bump.
So you are going to split this here, and this is going to be a fringe section. Let me just
do the same on the other side. Okay, so pin these up, by the way, and these will be the
last bit to go in place. We'll come back to that later.
The middle section you're going to want to do probably about two inches wide. So this
is going to be a smooth section of hair that you come back to, to cover all the knots that
you make in the bouffant. So it's going to leave about that much, and the same on the
other side. Again, pin these sections up out of the way; we'll come back to that later.
We should be left with quite a sizable section at the back of the head, and this is going
to be your bouffant. Taking again another two or three inch wide section, all the way
across the head. So I'm going to use a back-combing brush for this. It is just the bristles are
a bit bigger, so it makes it easy to get more volume quicker.
And now we're going to start to roll. So just starting at the top, same as the last one,
roll your poof down. Just pin into place till you get the kind of shape you are after.
We're just going to get rid of this hair as well. Again, we're just going to roll it up,
going to pop it in to put the bump here.
Okay, we are going to start using the hair that we pinned aside, just to smooth over
the look. As you can see, this is lovely, perfect hair to smooth over all your foundations
of the style if you like. Just keep going until you've covered all your bumps with your
remaining hair.
We're going to get rid of this bit here; we're going to work on a different section. Following
the side parting that we made earlier, we're just going to bring this back, working all
the way back towards the head.
There's going to be the exact same thing on the other side, so if you have shorter banks,
you can leave them down and maybe just sweep them to the sides. For longer hair, it's nice
to wrap around the whole way. I'm just going to pin that in place, just here.
So with these bits here, I think they are lovely and curly, so if you want, you could
make a feature of those. But what we're going to do is, we are just going to roll them up,
just using our fingers like this, and then just pin into place.
When you're happy with your finished look, just finish it off with a bit of hairspray,
and smooth down any little fly-aways you can catch, with either a comb or your fingers.
So there you have it guys, the finished look; it's gorgeous. If you want to see more sixties-inspired
hair styles, like this one, do give this video a thumbs up. So don't forget to subscribe
