How did The Pearls come into the picture?
It started around three years ago
watching TV. On TV, it had a special presentation
by Oprah called “The Legends”.
After watching the television program, what was the special about?
It was about the celebration of African American women
under one roof.
All were poets, actors, writers, and many more!
Since that day and many years later,
I still remember every detail in the back of my head.
Time passed by,
I became an event planner mid-2008.
Wow, I enjoyed thoroughly hosting
events from scratch,
but something was still eating inside of me.
My head kept telling me to do the event,
I kept brushing it off over and over.
finally one day; I woke up realizing
it was time to take reins on this event.
Coming up with the name
was a challenge.
Contemplating… What name would represent
those twenty Deaf Women the best?
Browsing the lengthy lists on the internet
plus spending countless hours
turning the pages of the dictionary.
At last, here popped up the word “P-E-A-R-L”
sure enough, it got my approval.
The word Pearl represents several characters:
1) Object of Beauty
2) Admirable
3) Unique, and
lastly, but the most important of all, rare.
Summing it up,
that’s what a Pearl means.
Not only that, but who doesn’t
like to dress pretty in pearls
like my earrings and necklace!
What is the purpose of this event?
This event is to honor twenty Deaf
Deaf Women across America
in five different categories. Pretty neat!
The categories will be explained
furthermore next week.
Also, the Pearls event will take in Los Angeles
a private event meaning
meaning no live audience at all.
Only those women will celebrate
with one another by dining
as well as swapping stories.
As soon the event wraps up,
there will be a special for you,
the audience, to view.
Thank you for your time.
