I'm Daniel, I've been at the Hilltop going on five years
now. I don't know a lot about the Hilltop, but
I have some Hilltop stuff for ya. So where do you want me to start?
Just anywhere? Let's start when I first came here, I signed
on with the football team. It was the Westgate Hawks.
I ended up playing my second year with them, because I got here too late to play with them
my first year. But my second year there I ended up setting
records. So I still hold records for most tackles and
stuff like that. Just regular football records, nothing amazing...well
the numbers are amazing! But then that all went downhill after I got
in a couple of wrecks. I haven't left football, I now coach Little League football.
So, since I can't play, I figured I would give my time to coach.
I enjoy what I do. I've been here with the Hilltop library also for five years.
I've done everything from shelving books, shelf reading, putting away DVDs/CDs,
helping kids, summer reading club, managing volunteers, doing anything others need me
to do, picking up the slack of any other volunteer that wasn't doing their job.
I've also helped the supervisor hire other volunteers.
There's a lot of things that can be said in that, but then again it's just a library.
What we consist of here, kids have been developed a lot since I started here.
I mean we have summer reading club, which wasn't here my first year here.
But now we have that and it helps the students, kids that come in, the adults too. We have
elderly adults that come in here, it's our adult program.
Some adults can't read, but they like to be read to.
So we offer that. You want to earn a reading pass? We'll read it to you.
Same goes for Toddlers. Some people just can't read. We let people
read to them. The Hilltop is great, it has its flaws, just
with every city.
