FlexLearning is an intriguing term. When you say FlexLearning,
administrators eyes light up. FlexLearning equals two things,
more students and better retention. So why not, FlexLearning.
However, when you mention FlexLearning to faculty, they have mixed responses.
Yeah, let's give it a try, come on. And others say, no way.
How about the rest of you? No way! Despite the benefit of flexibility for
students, instructors are concerned that they may be teaching the equivalent
of two classes. How will they manage the disparity of learning environments?
And what do the students think? When students
find out what FlexLearning is all about, it turns out they
really like it for a variety of reasons. I took one last semester and it gave me
the option to either take it all online or like a traditional class.
FlexLearning allows students to make choices as to how
they will attend classes, either completely online,
completely face to face, or a blend of both. To find
out what we have learned in our first semester of offering FlexLearning,
come to our TLT session, Beyond Hybrid to Flexlearning
at 11:00 a.m. in Room 105. It may
just work for you.
