Hi, this is Joshua from Greater than Gatsby. Today we're going to be working with the Radiance
Collection which is designed to complement a photographers work flow. This set contains
over 100 actions including Exposure Adjustment, Retouch, Color Cast Correcting, Color Bases,
Artistic Enhancements, Finishing Touches, Workflow Tools, a Haze Gallery. It's very
comprehensive so anything you want is probably in this set.
I'm going to go ahead and whiten their eyes just a little bit so I'm going to go ahead
and run this action and I'll zoom in a little bit closer. Now this has a Black Layer Mask
so I'm going to make sure that my foreground is set to white and then select my Brush tool.
I'm going to go ahead and brush this on say at 50%. You want to make sure that you've
got a soft brush so it doesn't leave any hard edges. I'm going to go ahead and just paint
this on and you want to keep it subtle or else it gets looking unnatural. I'm going
to kind of quickly do this right now. Normally I would take a little bit more time but once
we zoom out you're not really going to be able to tell.
I'll go ahead and add a little to his as well. You want to make sure that you don't get it
on the iris or any skin. I'm going to decrease it just a little bit more. I think it looks
good at 35.
I'm also going to run a Skin Smoother. Now this action, it doesn't just blur the skin,
it actually retains the detail within the layers so when you run it over it's not going
to wipe away the pores or the stubble or any detail you may find within the skin. It's
actually going to place it back after it smooths it. Increase my brush. I'm going to go ahead
and paint this on him at 50, avoiding the eyes and any other major areas you don't want
to ... You want to make sure that you don't paint over the main part of any facial features.
For the beard area, decrease it a little bit more, just paint around just to smooth that
out a little bit.
For her, I'm going to increase it into the 60s. Paint around the eyes, make sure we leave
the detail on the nose and the mouth. Make the brush a little smaller. I'll click it
on and off. That may be just a little too much so I'm going to decrease this just a
little bit, take it down to 50. I'm also going to run this on her arm, smooth that out just
a touch. Okay, I think that looks good.
From here we're going to go ahead and flatten. All right, now I'm ready for my Color Base
so I'm going to run Clean Edit Color Base. Now this is a foundation action that I run
on every single image. If you open up the folder you've got Brightening Shadows, Rescue
and Highlights, Clean Edit Define, Mid-Tone Boost, Color Boost, Contrast Boost, Soft,
Warmth, Vignette, the list goes on. I'm actually not going to tweak this at the moment, I think
that looks pretty good. It made just the right amount of difference, but I'm going to do
a few of the add-ons.
I'm going to run Flair for the Dramatic and that made the image a little bright. I'm probably going to bump this down just a hair
and let's go ahead and warm it up a little bit with Bold Unbridled Light. I'm also going
to bump that down. That's really warm. I like what it does to the skin tones but it's just
a little too much. Now I'm going to go back into Clean Edit Color Base and I'm going to
bump up the Darken. I want to make sure that we don't lose our exposure so I'm going to
run this all the way up. 50% looks good.
From here I'm going to choose a few of the artistic enhancing actions. My favorite is
Hammers and Strings. Decrease the Opacity down to 30 and let's run Ghost Man on Third.
That's way too blue in the shadows so we'll bring that down, 26 looks good and let's pick
one more. Let's run Something Borrowed. This is very contrasty so I know 50% is going to
be way too much. Yup. Maybe bump it up to 23.
Okay, so these actions not only modify the background but they also modify their skin
and we really don't want that. We don't mind leaving a little of the action on there. Since
this has a White Layer Mask I'm going to make the foreground black and I've grabbed the
Brush tool, we'll put it at 54%. On each of the last 3 actions that we just ran I'm going
to gently brush it off their skin, bringing back that more natural skin tone. We'll do
it on one more action. Okay, this has really brought back their truer skin tone so I'm
much happier with this result.
It still needs a little bit of something in the background so let's run Fall Foliage and
this is just going to give it a punch of warmth. We'll add it over the greens. Now for this
we're going to drop the Opacity down a little bit, add a few pops with our white brush.
Okay, I think that looks good.
Now I notice a little bit of red left in their skin so we're going to back up to the Color
Cast Correctors, Shed the Red, make the brush a little smaller. We're going to take the
red out of a few different places on their skin ... the red out of her hairline, and
down here on her arm. There's also a shadow on there so we may want to add some Fill Flash
here in a second. Turn that on and off. Okay, I think that looks great.
We'll go ahead and add a little bit of Fill Flash so we'll grab our Fill Flash brush and lower the Opacity just a little bit, just
add some Fill Flash a few places where the shadows are just a little much. Okay, so before
and after on Fill Flash.
All right, well I think that about does it for the image. I may go ahead and just darken
it just a hair more so you see the before and the after. We'll do the before and the
after.
