A customer price list is a price list linked to one or more customers which
serves as the default price source for all sales documents recorded for that
customer, such as Price Quotations, Sales Orders,
Customer Shipments and Invoices.
I will now demonstrate the creation of a customer price list.
In the Marketing and Sales menu, we'll go to Prices and Discounts, Price
Lists and open the Price Lists form.
Here we're going to specify the list code, a description, and currency.
The valid list date column automatically displays the lists' date
of creation as the day on which the price list goes in to effect.
The parts can either be recorded manually in the Part Prices sublevel form,
or automatically via the Prepare Price List program as demonstrated in
the Price Lists Part 1 video clip. I will now demonstrate the revision
a price list by raising the price lists of all the lists items by a given
percentage without having to open a new price list.
First, let's create a new version of the price list.
This step is not necessary, we can simply overwrite the existing prices,
but it is recommended to maintain a history of previous price lists.
To do so, we run the Copy Price List program, specifying the list we want to
copy in the Source Price List
input window.
In the To Price List input window, we'll specify the same list and specify
the date the new version of the price list will go in to effect.
Going back to the price list form,
we can now see that there are 2 entries in the Price Lists Dates sublevel form.
For each of these entries, part prices appear in another sublevel form.
Currently, with the same prices appearing in each.
Now, we are going to run the Raise/Lower Prices program to raise the
prices of the listed parts.
We select the price list we want to revise in the Price List Code input column.
We can select all parts appearing in the price list, or we can query a set
group of parts, we can update prices before VAT or including VAT if
appropriate and round numbers before VAT, after VAT, or have no rounding.
In the percentage column we can specify the amount by which we want to
raise all the prices as a percentage or a set value in the value column.
Next, we'll select the version of the price list in which the price list will
be updated and click OK.
Going back to the price list form,
in Price List Date sublevel form, we see the two versions with their effect dates
as before and in the further sublevel – Part Prices sublevel form,
we can now see how the prices differ.
To put a price list version in to effect, we flag the valid column for
the desired list and from that moment on, the new prices are in effect.
We can create or update a customer price list on the basis of a vendor
price list as well, using the Revise Customer Price List by Vendor Price
List program.
In the customer price list input column, we'll select the customer list,
we can select an existing price list or create a new one.
We can select part numbers if desired, part family, and the vendor from which
to copy or update the part prices.
Flag the Add Vendor Parts column if you have created a new empty price list
of if you want to be sure to include all vendor parts, and in the percentage
to increase column we'll specify the proportion by which to increase the
vendor prices to reach the desired customer prices, or we can set a set
value to increase.
In the following input screens, we can determine whether or not to add
standard shipping expenses to the vendor prices and whether to include or
ignore any vendor discounts.
Finally, we click OK to create the new price list or to revise the old one.
To print a price list we can use any one of the reports listed in the Price
list menu and to link a new price list to a customer we'll go to the customer
record itself, press query mode,
select the desired customer, move to the Customer Price Lists sublevel form,
and select the desired price list which will now be used as a default for this
customer for all transactions.
For more information on customer price lists go to any of the wizards
available in the customer price list wizard's menu.
