fun appears as if there's a little don't me or more on the NSA
this is a a really interesting story the House of Representatives
voted on an amendment to the defense appropriations bill that would have
restricted
the National Security Agency's ability to collect Americans phone records
so understand it was a very specific
restriction they were voting on it was for section 215 a Patriot Act
which has been wrongly in illegally used to collect
all your metadata and your phone call information
now but why is this a big deal well
I think it's a big deal because if you were to ask mean
but hey Kyle will they ever
vote on restricting the NSA if you had brought that up a couple
weeks ago I would he said no probably not
because so often but
if you go back to 2001 and forward it
the politicians whether Democrats Republicans are just Rio
the unconstitutional programs specially with the Patriot Act
so that leads me to believe also going to continue to be like this cuz it's
been like that in the past
so just the fact that they brought this up was a big deal
and up also by the way let's not forget that
in a way edwards known in
kinda went we would not have been able to have this vote would never been an
issue
if and we're snowed in didn't do what he was supposed to do which is be a
whistleblower
and said hey by the way what the government is doing is a wildly
unconstitutional so violation of the Fourth Amendment and it's also a
violation of section 215 the Patriot Act
digital section 215 the Patriot Act
which is what the executive branch is hanging their hat hat on when they say
no we can take their bodies information see Section 215
there were legal battles when the Patriot Act was first passed
were civil liberties group said no no no we're gonna call this the library
provision because there were legal battles esta
the government thought they could take your library records
and that was considered a government overreach
so whereas I in the early 2000's it was over recent just look at your library
records
but today the executive branch says all my records
we do on a Tuesday before breakfast we are live where did you get your phone
call me all your metadata
I mean its obviously unconstitutional
and obviously illegal while the colours are the patriarch problem Sensenbrenner
even he was like what you're doing this is not what this was supposed to be for
what are you crazy
so are the said for this story is that
in the end the amendment failed it was a close photo is 217 to 2005
there were 111 democrats that voted 4 restriction
above the NSAA 83 voted no ninety four republicans voted for restriction on the
NSA
134 voted no is not really interesting I was actually
up I don't know if I've ever seen a vote
more bipartisan the Mac so what happened was the
Progressive Caucus the more progressive by democrats teamed up with the tea
party Republicans
up I know strange bedfellows but
the %uh leaders in the democratic party the republican party the
establishment Democrats and Republicans they
rally together also to defend President Obama administration
so I had to give you some specifics on that Darrell
isometric john bainer Eric Cantor
debbie Wasserman Schultz just go with those names alone is like how love
big almost never voted together ever before Washington shoulders possibly a
progressive Democrat
parish in a progressive and also Michele Bachmann
defended Obama and they voted for the data collection
john bainer Eric Cantor Michele Bachmann defending President Obama
you know he's doing some wrong if
he's in the same room as those people and people who voted
against it Joe Barton Marsha Blackburn mark Sanford
apparently he found some time a to not
be doing something that involves aspin's up
louie Gohmert and alan Grayson
up best madonna is congressman and the smartest congressman
came together to vote against the data collection
look some strange bedfellows I'm upset that
a it didn't pass and they didn't restrict section 215 and stop the data
collection
but at the same time it's also a win because is the first we actually had a
vote on it
we are more we had a conversation and we have a lot more support than I thought
we had
from Democrats than Republicans in Congress work
just a matter of time and let's let's keep plugging away here
we need to get our constitutional rights back we need to stop the executive
branch from his
incredible incredible overreach immediately
