What we focused on for this project was a real balance on working with the coaches and
figuring out some strengths and weaknesses in the skill part of their surfing and then
using some tools like the video and the cameras and the monitors on the beach to really reinforce
that part. So the girls can go out, surf, work on a few things, come back and really
try to improve what they are doing in the water.
The most important aspect for the girls is obviously progression
The most important part of training for me is just actually surfing, I think that's
the best way of getting better and to have a couple of coaches watching you surf and
filming you, so then you can watch what you've been doing, good or bad.
I want to improve my barrel riding and aerial surfing.
The level its just getting higher, higher, so for these girls to remain at the top of
their game they really need to work on their new school surfing and that's what we're here to do.
The girls can simulate surfing on the trampoline and learn body awareness in the air.
This technique helps improve our surfing because
then when we get the section in the ocean it's going to be a lot easier, we know what
we're doing and know how to land.
The camp has been amazing, we've learned a lot. It's been really cool this last day to put in work the things we've learned.
I'm for sure more confident and more prepared for the contest.
Yeah, I'm usually chasing big swells and surfing big waves but it's really important for me
to come here in a camp like this. To see Sally and Sofia surfing, they're like the best in the world
and I can definitively learn a lot from them.
