[narrator] Mothers across Africa have a simple wish for their children...
clean water.
But here, that's not simple.
Two decades of civil war devastated Liberia's infrastructure.
For most of the country's 3 1/2 million residents
clean water is scarce.
[narrator] Jonathan Kaipay works for The United Methodist Church in Liberia.
He digs wells in rural communities through the
Liberia-Norway Partnership.
[narrator] This small, shallow stream was the only source for
an entire village to wash their clothes, water animals,
and collect drinking water.
Villagers didn't know it, but for weeks a dead body floated
in the water just a mile away.
[narrator] Kaipay says his survival instinct during years
of war has turned into a passion for helping Liberia rebuild.
