We developed the courses on Managing Organizational Performance
because we know that organizations today are dealing with massive amounts of information.
We also know that, not all that information is important
in influencing organizational objectives.
The courses therefore focus on a number of key objectives.
One is to teach students how to identify important information.
Two is to teach them about methodologies
that they could use to analyze that information
and make decisions that actually improve organizational performance.
We also teach them how to use business intelligence tools
to capture, transform, and distribute information in the organization.
We do this through a partnership that we have with IBM Canada
which has brought us a number of different types of technologies.
We have score cards and multidimensional cubes, and so on.
Students learn how to manipulate the software, manipulate the data
to find the information that is important,
and to make informed decisions about how to improve organizational performance.
The long run outcome is that
we expect our students to be able to develop and work
in what we would call, “High performing organizations,”
that really contribute to their employees and contribute to society as a whole.
