I want to start making videos, but I don't know why. Maybe I want to document my life
to remember what I was like at this age and what I did with my time. Maybe I want to tell
stories and share them with the world. Maybe I'm just bored and doing this to pass the
time. My real motive probably isn't any one of these, but a combination of all of them
and more. Whatever the reason, I've always liked every aspect of filmmaking, and that's
reason enough to start a new hobby. I just graduated high school a little while
ago. Near the end of the year, I would hear people say that graduating was "hitting them".
I kept waiting to feel it hit me, but it didn't come. I sat in my last period English class
on the last day of school and waited, but the bell rang and I felt the same. I thought
it would surely come on graduation day, but that too came and went just the same. I came
to believe that the transition from high school to college would be seamless. It was foolish
of me to think that. It hit me. I'm leaving the comfort of the small town
that I grew up in. I'm leaving my friends and family behind and am going to college
in a large city. Unfortunately, I didn't get to do everything I had planned to do here.
Time got away from me. I'll let this serve as a reminder that life goes on regardless
of whether of not I'm ready for it to. This is a confusing and exciting time in my
life, but it is just one sheet in the roll of toilet paper that is life. This particular
sheet is obviously scented bittersweet. This is not a production error in the manufacturing
of the toilet paper, it was meant to be that way. Right now I'm sad to see that sheet be
used, but I have to remember that I still have more than three quarters of the roll
left. There will never be a shortage of butts to be wiped, and eventually my roll will be
depleted, leaving behind just a brown cardboard cylinder to symbolize what I've accomplished
in my years and the impact I've had on the world. Anyway, what I think I'm trying to
say with this toilet paper analogy is that I'm Arby Menzy, and I hope you enjoyed my
video.
