Hello everyone!
I hope youre well, I hope youre healthy, if not, I hope you have a good doctor.
Most of them are.
Almost all of them are in fact - but some of them arent.
Its very rare to find evil doctors but when you do, their stories are almost unbelievable.
Lets see what you make of them - my name is Danny Burke and this is the top 10 worst things
doctors have done part 2.
Starting off at number 10 we have John Bodkin Adams.
This British Doctor goes down in history as a suspected serial killer.
Between 1946 and 1956, over 160 of his patients died in suspicious circumstances.
Almost all of them left him large sums of money and items in their wills.
Its suspected that he coersed his patients into putting him in their wills and then intentionally
shortened their lives through high medicine doses in order to get the pay out.
The prosecution were unable to get a guilty verdict though and Adams walked free and continued
to practice medicine.
Coming in at number 9 we have Marcel Petiot.
Also known as the Butcher of Paris - this Doctor was famous for helping the poor in
Paris during the 2nd World War and for helping persecuted Jews escape the Nazis.
Good guy?
Well people thought he was until March 1944.
Thats when police followed a foul stentch to his home and found it to be full of bodies.
They were strewn across the floor in various stages of decay, some of them were cut into
pieces and placed in bags.
He had been taking in Jewish people and murdering them after promising to help them escape to
Argentina.
He would tell them they needed vaccinations for when they were there, and would then inject
them with cyanide …
Moving on to number 8 we have Farid Fata.
This Lebanese doctor told over 500 of his patients that they were sick and dying when
they actually werent.
He knowingly misdiagnosed them with diseases so that he could put them through expensive
chemotherapy sessions and then cash in on the money.
Horrific, right?
Well it gets worse.
He would also tell his patients who were actually terminally ill that they could get better
if they just had a few more sessions, even though he knew that the likelihood of their
survival was almost zero.
When police finally caught him, he was sentenced in 2015 and given 45 years in prison …
Next up at number 7 we have Kim Tutt.
This 34 year old woman was told by her doctor that she had cancer in her jaw and that she
had 3 - 6 months to live.
She was shocked but the Doctors said they might be able to give her an extra 3 months
if they operated on her to remove the tumor.
She agreed to the big surgery - they removed the left side of her chin all the way up to
behind her right ear.
A few months later, she was called in to see her Doctor who told her there had been a mistake.
They had mixed up her biopsy with someone elses and she never had cancer in the first
place … although she was happy to know she wasnt dying, she sued the doctors for medical
malpractice.
Coming in at number 6 we have H.H Holmes.
Also known, as Dr Henry Howard Holmes, this American serial killer is thought to have
been responsible for at least 27 murders during the late 19th century.
While studying medicine, he would steal bodies and disfigure them in order to defraud life
insurance companies.
He eventually started up a hotel in Chicago which later turned out to be a torture chamber
with rooms and contraptions designed to kill the people who stayed there.
He would then srip their bodies of flesh and make skeleton models.
He was caught and hanged in 1897 at the age of 34.
Next up at number 5 we have Jayant Patel.
Also known as Doctor Death, this Indian Doctor is thought to be responsible for the death
of 87 if his patients between 2003 and 2005.
The majority of these cases were not thought to be malicious in nature - and were instead
due to Patels complete incompetence and lack of medical knowledge.
Many of his qualifications were based on forged documents.
In 2010 he was found guilty of killing several patients through medical malpractice and sentenced
to 7 years in prison …
Coming in at number 4 we have Benjamin Houghton.
In 2007, this Air Force veteran was set to have his *** removed after Doctors feared
it showed early signs of cancer.
After the surgery, Benjamin discovered the worst possible news - they had removed the
wrong ***.
At first he thought it was a joke, then the shock hit him and then he thought: what do
I do now?
Well, it turns out that legal action was what he did next.
He asked for 200,000 in future care needs and unspecified damages …
Next up at number 3 we have Dr Margaret Bean-Bayog.
This harvard psychiatrist treated Paul Lozano, a medical student at the university who came
to her for help with his depression.
She put him through her programme known as -reparenting-.
It involved Paul reliving his childhood in the hopes that this would uncover the deep
source of his depression.
It was very strange.
It started with her reading him childrens stories, calling him baby and making him call
her mother.
She told him to break contact with his real family.
The treatment took a *** turn with Paul being told to take out the Doctors breast
from her bra cup.
Oher doctors found out the true nature of their *** relationship too late and 5 years
later Paul commited suicide.
Moving on to number 2 we have Alexander Baez.
This man was a former Mr Mexico and decided to get pec implants in 1999.
He approached Dr Reinaldo Silvestre to perform the surgery.
However, when he woke up, Alexander found that he hadnt been given pec implants - the
Doctor had given him breast implants, a C cup to be precise.
When police investigated the case, they found that Reinaldo had been performing these botched
surgeries for years, charging 3 or 4 thousand dollars for each one.
The icing on the cake was that he wasnt even a proper doctor.
And finally at number 1 we have Dr Linda Burfield Hazzard.
Known simply as -Dr Hazzard- to her patients, she somehow got a medical license despite
never having graduated from medical school.
Her method for curing her patients diseases - was starvation.
Whatever it was, from a cold to cancer, Dr Hazzard would restrict their food in the belief
that fasting could cure all ailments.
The average diet included two bowls of tomato broth and two small oranges a day - thats
it.
This would last for up to a month.
In 1912 she was sentenced to two years in prison for manslaughter after one of her patients
died of starvation, weighing just 50lbs at the time of her death.
Incredibly, Dr Hazzard died in 1938 while attempting a fasting cure on herself.
I think that proves once and for all that starvation is not a good medical practice
…
Well guys, I think I said this in the last video but please don't let this scare you
out of going to the doctors.
It would be terrible if we all stopped trusting doctors because of the actions of a few.
Thats my advice for today.
My name is Danny Burke, thanks for watching guys and Ill see you all in the next video
