Hi, this is Chris here from Music Radar and i've got my hands on the new POG 2 pedal from
Electro-Harmonix. Like its predecessor it's a pretty cool octave pedal, but this one manages
to pack even more features into a smaller chassis.
As you can see the footprint is much smaller this time around which saves on valuable pedal
board space. We've got the dry output control here, 2 octaves below which is all new, one
octave below, one octave above and 2 octaves above. Over here in the effects section the
attack control can be used to introduce swells. We've got the cutoff control for the low pass
filter and detune which adds those Lesley speaker style oscillations for fake organ
sounds. Plugged in you can see the LED here for the
dry FX button. Now this cycles through 4 modes, allowing the dry signal to either bypass or
pass through the attack, low pass filter and detune effects. Now we've got a button here
also for the Q effect. This cycles through 4 levels of resonance, or Q for the low pass filter.
Probably the coolest of the new features is
this preset control here. Now this gives you 8 sounds which you can adjust on the fly with
the preset button rather than you having to get down on your hands and knees and fiddle
around mid gig. So, those are the features, without further
ado lets hear it in action. For the purposes of this demo, we are playing
this rather nice Fender John Mayer signature strat, and we've got the POG 2 hooked up to
a VOX DA10 modelling amp, which we're taking a direct signal from.
In this first example, you can hear the second sub octave add a lot of extra depth to the sound.

This example shows how the POG 2 can create a pseudo 12 string sound for haunting arpeggios.

This sound uses multiple octaves, the low
pass filter and the detune function to leave the audience wondering where you are hiding that organ.

Next up you can hear the attack slide make everything a little bit weird and spooky.

Finally, this sound uses all of the extra octaves for full on fatness.

So, that's the POG 2 in a nutshell, check out www.EHX.com for more information.
