brother, Raymond Joseph Evans
To give thanks for his life. To commend him to our merciful
redeemer and to comfort one another in our grief.
And

Vice Commandant, United States Coast Guard, will speak
on behalf of our Coast Guard community.
Good morning Mrs. Evans, family member, fellow Coast Guard men and women.
and supporters, friends. It's a privilege for me to be here
today to represent Admiral Bob Papp, Commandant of the Coast Guard.
and Coast Guard men and women everywhere.
We're here to celebrate the life of one of our iconic heroes
Raymond J. Evans, United States Coast Guard retired.
He was iconic in Coast Guard history, amongst the very giants
in our 220 year past.
On 27th September 1942, Douglas Munro
Ray Evans and others embarked to take
the battalion from the 1st Marine Division to Point Cruz
They volunteered to land the Marines under heavy fire
I ask God watch over you Ray Evans
and God, watch over your legacy. Your legacy
are the men and women from all five military services
who active around the globe today, many in harms way
guarding the liberty and freedom many of us take for granted
and we all enjoy in this country today.
Ray really did raise the bar for all us for valor
courage, honor and sacrifice, love of
country and again, love of his comrades. And he endured
and Dorothy set the bar even higher for all of us here today on what love
marriage, family, sacrifice
really should be. Uncle Ray
your family loves you and solutes you.

Forward, march.
Right turn.
I would like to thank each
and every one of you for coming
I know Ray would be terribly embarrassed
over all of this, but he did love the service very
much. It meant a lot to him.
I and the family can't thank you enough
for all of you coming out, standing in line
I know you have been there for hours and
I just, from the deepest part of my heart and from
Ray's also, we thank you.
