Hey, how are you doing? This is Mike LeMoine, director of Innovative Thought
here at Maverick. I came here on a weekend and I know you may
not be watching this on a weekend, but this video is that important.
I asked the team to come in on a Saturday morning so we can shoot this because one of
the things that I think the local businesses are all missing out on right now, is capturing
great customer experiences on camera. In marketing, you know that you should use
testimonials, but I tell you, a written testimonial with initials and the city behind them, no
longer is really enough. I mean, any of that stuff can be duplicated very, very quickly.
You know, even taking somebody's picture
and putting it next to a written testimonial, again, that can be perceived as false and
duplicated, but what can't be perceived as false or duplicated is a real person in
front of a camera telling about their great experience with your business.
I don't care if you're a restaurant, I don't care what you do if you're
a contractor, a chiropractor, a dentist, a massage therapist, it doesn't matter. You
should be capturing great customer experiences on camera.
What I want to do is just show you how to do that because we're talking about under
200 bucks; this is a simple process that will totally blow out your marketing.
So what I have here is, this is a Kodak Zi8. Now, they don't make these any more. That's
good news for you because you can go on eBay and probably pick up a little camera like
this for under a hundred bucks, now. If not, Kodak has a new version out. You'll
see exactly what it's named right here in the video, and you can just pick that up,
but these are great little cameras. The reason why is that you just turn them
on, and on the back here, right here, you see there's this little red button. This
is all you've got to do to record somebody. You just push that little red button, and
it starts recording.
Now, this little video camera is a high-definition video camera, so the quality for Internet
use is absolutely amazing. It's really going to help you out. So what I recommend is you
get a little camera like this.
I don't care if you hold the camera and you videotape somebody. I don't care
if you put it on a little tripod, like this little thing here. Check this out, these legs
retract. I could put this in my backpack, I could carry this around.
So if you have a mobile business, you should have this setup. Or if not, you should have
this in your office or your business location, so any time you have a happy customer, you
can capture that great customer experience. Now, another great thing about these little
cameras, and any camera you get you should make sure you have, is that they have an external
mic output. Because you can see here, I'm using an external microphone, and that's
why the audio quality is so good. One of the greatest things about video, or
the thing about a great video, is really good audio quality. So these little things here,
you just plug it in just like headphones, and now you can attach an external microphone
right to your client or your customer so that you get amazing audio.
What that does is it just makes your video so much better. You want to get in a lighted
area, or you just buy a couple of desk lamps to shine on the person when they're videoing.
But ultimately, what it does is it helps you stand out. Because once you get a videotape
of somebody talking about their great experience with their company or your service, you get
to put that video online. You get to put it into your YouTube Channel.
You can put it in many different areas, so you have real-live proof of people who like
doing business with you. What happens is, as you get pages of happy
people on your website and you get a bunch of customer testimonials on your YouTube Channel,
what does that do for you as a local business owner?
It allows you to really stand out away from your competition because look, all these people
couldn't be lying, and you need to get as many people as possible because people
going to your Web site aren't going to watch every single video, but they're going
to watch people who look like them. They're going to connect with people who
they feel are most like them and so, if you could start capturing those great customer
experiences on video, then you have an entire portfolio of people who are happy with you.
You're going to stand out, be different
and you'll ultimately going to close more people. Another thing you can do is you can
now get those videos transcribed, and you can put together a best of the best
of what people said. But it's a lot more real underneath those
videos because there's a video right there where somebody can click on and see exactly
what is said. To recap, what I'm telling you to do is to capture great customer experiences
on camera. You get a small camera like the Kodak Zi8
or the new one that's listed below. You get a small tripod and you get an external
microphone jack, and you, or your employees, start capturing great customer experiences.
You know, people will be very, very happy
to give you a testimonial, after a great experience. People are looking for businesses that serve
their customers. They're going to be very happy to give you that testimonial to be able
to help your business because you just gave them great service.
So don't be afraid to ask. Your customers will do this for you. It's like a referral,
it's like word-of-mouth, and this will really help. This is a very inexpensive way to grow
your business online. The only other thing I would recommend to
you as a local business owner, is that you have a release. That you have permission,
so that if you automatically become a multi-million dollar business and one of your customers
thinks it's because of their video, that you're protected.
If you don't have a release, just e-mail us info@maverickwebmarketing.com
In the subject line put Video Release. We'll
send you our release. We're not attorneys, but you can change that for your own business.
That's just another way we could help you out.
I would recommend, you really invest in a little package like this. Put a little tripod
on the counter, and you know what? People love to be in front of the camera, too.
Even if you have to offer a special coupon to incentivise somebody for their time, to
leave you a little testimonial, I promise you, doing this little Internet marketing
strategy will pay off big time for your local business.
So don't neglect some of the easy, simple strategies to implement. Maybe you don't
have a huge SEO budget or a huge video production budget, but you know what? You can do your
own videos in-house, and you can really help yourself stand out in your local market.
I hope this tip helps you, and I hope more than it helping you, is that you implement
it. Because what we found with marketing is it never works unless you implement it, so
I challenge you to go implement this today for your local business.
Now look, if you like this video, if you're like Wow! This guy thinks outside the
