My name is Bruno Guerreiro, I'm 28 years old and this is my Peugeot 106.
This 106 was a choice...
... because I needed a cheap car, because I totalled my previous car...
... which was a (Peugeot) 306...
... and I needed a basic car because I was focusing...
... in performance...
... so there was no reason to buy a car with more resources...
... many extras...
and then get rid of all this because I wasn't going to use.
Many people ask me why I didn't turbocharge the car...
... and I'd like to do this, I much prefer turbo than naturally aspirated...
... but this car...
... doesn't have the structure to...
... receive a turbocharger...
... and pass all the power to the ground. And to have 200hp turbocharged...
... I prefer to invest in naturally aspirated and get the same power.
Now it has an 1.6 16v engine, variable camshafts.
And engine head upgrade, (camshaft)...
... 4x2x1...
... exhaust, R1 ITB and Fueltech (fuel injection system).
In suspension...
...it has a full Koni kit...
... disk brakes on four wheelsi, 283mm disks in front...
... and EBC disk.
The wheels are Tsuya Spank...
... the tires Toyo T1R measuring 195 45 15".
And in its interior it has a rollcage...
... 4-point seat belt, bucket seats, steering wheel with quick release...
... and custom gear shift with quick shift.
Besides the water temperature and oil gauges, and the Monster.
0-60 mph is bellow 7 seconds... and the top speed I never measured...
... because this is not the car's goal, it was made to be agile and quick...
... and because its characteristics of weight and power...
... it is not going to do well in top speed.
I think it represents well the 'track day car' spirit...
... because every modification is focused on performance...
... but it is still a daily drive car...
so there are a few limiting factors that don't let it be a strict 'race car'...
... but ...
... it is 100% focused in tracks and I still can go to the bread store to buy some bread.
When I say this is my 'daily drive car', most people...
... find it odd...
... and my wife doesn't like it...
... she thinks it is noisy, call too much atention...
... so it doesn't appeal to her... worse yet is if she needs to go as a passenger, she feels uncomfortable.
I choose the 106, a french car that some people have preconception...
... because...
... the dynamic behaviour of an 90's french car doesn't compare to the one of brazilian cars.
This is reflected on the driving experience... it is nothing...
... spectacular, it isn't a powerful car...
... and everything more.
But it is a fun car because this dynamic behaviour it has.
In traffic I don't pay attention if there are people looking at the car...
... I don't look for people noticing the car.
But when someone comes to speak with me, and knows a little more (of mechanics)...
... they often asks if it is turbo os naturally aspirated...
... and when I say it is aspirated... ahh... the disappointment face is very obvious.
It is like when someone says that hot girl you are looking is (in reality) a ***.
The initial project (goal) is basically...
what the car has today.
The only difference is related to the engine, the first time I (made the swap)...
... was with a 1.6 8v...
... I didn't have an special interest of using an 16v engine because this is a project...
... of a more elevated cost.
But then there was this opportunity of getting an 16v engine and it ended up being an upgrade in the project.
The next ones (upgrades) are going to be related to the new suspension setup...
... I don't know what is going to happen because we are still thinking...
... which options are goint to be used.
