Obviously we evaluated the course itself
and had some great results from the course,
but what we needed is to look at the individual objectives
and outcomes for the students in the course.
So, we're redesigning the course and looking
at those detailed outcomes.
While as we did that, we found
that this might be useful in other areas too.
If we can identify a specific area of student weakness,
we can go to Student Services, share some of that information
as they advise students, and help advise them
into different support services or different interventions
that may be of help to them in the future.
And so, we're trying to build, we've built a partnership
with Academic Advising and their new First Year Experience
office, and some of the advisors that are within that.
They are taking part in this and helping us
to make those connections back and forth.
First of all, we were able to look
at the success of the entire course.
But, as we broke that down to individual learning outcomes,
the assessment then gives us a whole new picture
of the student's needs, and also their abilities
as they come into the class.
It helps us customize the class.
It also helps us provide
that information for Student Services.
