Hi! It’s Alex Read-Brain here, the marketing director at superiorbeds.ch in Switzerland.
I am still on the road, and this is my second blog entry for The Travelling Bed. Here I
am set on a friend of mine’s king-sized bed in their spare room. This is 160 cm wide,
and 180-185 cm long, about 6 foot. This is a latex mattress under here, and it’s comfortable
as a spare room bed. Now, we’ve got the windows open and it’s very warm in Switzerland
at the moment and where when we are sleeping it stays a little bit warm because as we pull
back this bed here, I will show you a little bit about it. Ok, so let me tilt this down.
Ok, so we’ve basically got a standard mattress topper, or is the topper? No, this is just
a plain mattress protector on a latex mattress at about 15-17cm with my hands, about 20,
so that gives you a good reference point to see how thin this is. Now, the base is standard
wood timber frame construction and it just has pure slats underneath, no box springs.
There is good storage, but a Divan family of box springs would be more comfortable,
and the mattress itself, actually branded Pierre Cudin if you can see that, out of Paris,
and gives you a nice feel. The issue with a latex mattress is that while they are hard-wearing,
they do get a little bit worn because it is a man-made rubber product. It doesn't get
the natural airflow through something that would have natural like wool or cotton fibers
in it, um, and there is no ventilation through the sides here, so they get a little worn,
so my friend actually upgraded after two years of using this to pocket spring mattress for
a bigger size and better all-around sleep. Anyway, it’s a good spare room, bed, and
it’s good enough to let your friends stay three or four days, so I am moving on over
the weekend here in Switzerland to see some friends in Southern Germany, and I will bring
you an update from there, so from The Travelling Bed, Alex Read-Brain signing off. Travel safe.
