Before Vancity, I was working for coffee shop.
I was a single mom and struggling... trying to get by, trying to figure out how I'm
going to do it all and give my daughter
the best life I possibly can on my own.
My name is Kim and I've been working for Vancity
for seven months as an FSR, which is a financial services rep.
Not having any financial background, I didn't know that I could have a chance
working somewhere like this.
We had five to six weeks of in branch training.
It's so intense and you learn a lot.
They took me in and taught me everything I needed to know and they were very helpful.
I was signed up for the Orientation Immersion program
and you get to learn behind the scenes of what Vancity is involved in.
What really touched home with me was the fact that
they're a part of Reconciliation Canada. Both my parents are survivors
of residential schools and I'm very proud that Vancity has made
a big impact.
in Squamish nation. It means the world to me to be a part
of a company that has shown such support.
I get to represent not only Squamish nation but Vancity too!
And you know it's the best of both worlds
I can't believe how much my life has changed in this past seven months.
It's really turned upside down. And you know it's a challenge but it's a challenge that
I am excited for and I want to prove to myself that
I can do this.
I just can't wait to see the next door that opens for me.
