What do you do about feeling hungry but not wanting to eat during pregnancy?
That’s usually a sign of really bad morning sickness. Your body craves food, but you’re
afraid to eat because you don’t want to throw it back up in a couple minutes.
I’m so conflicted.
The solution is to treat the underlying nausea so that you don’t throw up. Then you’ll
be able to eat when hungry without getting sick.
Then I can eat for two like I’m supposed to.
The baby only needs 150 to 300 additional calories. Don’t be pigging out on pizza
and pork rinds using the baby as an excuse.
And I thought this was a perfect excuse to ignore my diet.
You shouldn’t be trying to diet while pregnant. Control your intake of foods like shellfish
and tuna, avoid dangerous stuff like raw papaya and undercooked meat, but don’t starve yourself.
I need to manage my blood sugar, so I eat small meals.
If you have prenatal diabetes, you need to talk to your doctor. You might have to avoid
anything high in sugar or carbohydrates to control your blood sugar.
I’m not on insulin.
Diabetes will make you really thirsty before it’ll make you really hungry, but blood
sugar swings can make you hungry even after you’ve eaten.
And now I’m back to the default advice to see the doctor.
Prenatal diabetes increases your odds of full blown diabetes later in life.
I’ve already got a family history of that, so it doesn’t scare me.
It increases your risk of a ten pound baby or bigger. Imagine trying to push out that
cute little monster.
Fine, fine, I’ll talk to my doctor.
And if it isn’t diabetes, he can run some other tests to figure out what is wrong.
This is just the first of many things I can blame on the baby.
At least until he is old enough to deny it.
Then I can blame Daddy's DNA.
