Hello, I'm Dr Michael Sullivan, facial plastic surgeon at the Sullivan Centre in Columbus
Ohio. This morning, Good Morning America ran a very interesting piece on women and plastic
surgery in the workforce. This is a very interesting story and very pertinent to what I do because
I hear this all the time in my office. Patients come in and say, I sort of lost that youthful
look. Things are moving sour, I just don't feel good about how I present myself at work.
And often times people who are competing for jobs with younger individuals and wants to
be able to maintain that youthful appearance.
Plastic surgery and plastic surgical procedures aren't just for the rich and famous. It isn't
just for the Hollywood housewives. It's very mainstream now. Botox which is used for expression
lines or fillers such as Juviderm can be very effective to erase some of those lines that
occur with aging. I also find that skin care can be very helpful in freshening up the appearance
of the skin giving a little bit tighter look without doing anything aggressive like surgery.
Although many times, sometime there's a minor flaw that can be corrected with surgery, with
very little downtime. So there's lots of options today between surgical procedures, non surgical
procedures such as ulthera, that can tighten the skin, Botox which can help with the expression
lines, fillers such as Juviderm as well as skin care that people need to keep in mind
when thinking about maintaining that youthful appearance, appearing fresh and healthy and
not surgical and plastic.
