Hi. My name is Kelli Stanley. I have a book, called CITY OF DRAGONS.
And it's gonna show you a San Francisco that I don't think you've ever seen before.
First of all, it's San Francisco of 1940.
And secondly, it takes place in Chinatown, during Chinese New Year, and during a festival that was called a Rice Bowl Party.
It deals with the relationship between the Chinese-American communities and Japanese-American communities of that time,
and the tensions that existed, because of the Sino-Japanese War that took place just before World War II.
The book features the introduction of a new protagonist in crime fiction.
Her name--and I hope you remember it--is Miranda Corbie.
She's a private eye--she was a former Spanish Civil War volunteer--and an ex-escort.
She's a dark woman ... and she's got a lot to say.
And she's looking for justice in a very unjust world.
Please join me in a San Francisco that I hope you come to know and come to love.
City of Dragons--coming February 2nd, 2010.
