Welcome to this video.
Today I'll show you how DSCraft can be installed.
That's a Minecraft clone for the DS.
It was developed by an independend hobby developer which is the reason why it's totally legal.
Now I'll show you how it works.
You can use it on the Nintendo DS fat/original, on the Nintendo DS Lite, on the Nintendo DSi, on the Nintendo DSi XL, on the Nintendo 3DS, on the Nintendo 3DS XL and on the Nintendo 2DS: the complete DS family.
You need a so called flashcard in addition to the (3)DS.
It's kind of a MicroSD card reader for the DS which allows you to run applications.
You can find more videos related to that topic on my channel.
There are serveral flashcards avaible at the market.
I'll show that with the R4i Gold 3DS from R4ids.cn.
Later I'll show you places where you can get flashcards.
All flashcards currently avaible should support DSCraft.
You can check the description of the flashcard whether it supports Auto DLDI Patching or not to make it even easier.
My card supports it, too.
Older flashcards (from 2009 or earlier) probably won't support that.
Later I'll say more about DLDI.
In addition to the flashcard and the DS, you need a MicroSD card with a card reader or an Adapter.
The adapter has the size of a normal SD card.
The card itself is smaller than a normal SD card.
You can put the MicroSD card in the flashcard.
Many flashcards get shipped with a MicroSD reader
so that you don't need the adapter usually.
There are many shops in the internet where you can buy flashcards.
Vartis shipps from Germany and sends for free if you buy things for more than 50€.
In addition to that, they have two years warranty. I've tested it after one year.
I can usually suggest to buy the Supercard DSTWO which costs 40€ in this shop.
Another shop is Shop01media which has stocks in Sweden and Poland.
They have a larger choice but they have very high shipping fees, too.
You can get the Supercard DSTWO for 37,86€ + shipping here.
Or you buy it directly in China where they get produced, as example BestR4i3DS.
There are many chinese shops avaible.
But you should convert the prices from $ into €.
The DSTWO costs 40$ there which equals a bit less than 30€.
I used these three shops
and maybe you already own a flashcard.
But you shouldn't buy them at the flea marked because most of them are cheap clones.
And yes, I already made experiences with that.
In addition to that, you should make sure that your flashcard supports DSCraft.
You can find a link to this page in the description.
This list is very incomplete for sure. There are more than 40 different brands called R4 out there.
You can ask me in the comments if you are not sure whether your flashcard is supported or not.
After having bought a flashcard, you have to download DSCraft.
You have to select between the Nitro FS and the FAT only version,
I suggest the FAT only version because it has a much higher compatibility than the Nitro FS Version.
My R4i supports both versions
but you can't be really wrong with the FAT version.
You can usually change later.
In addition to DSCraft, I can download some texturepacks.
You can find many texture packs on this site but I'll only download the original texturepack.
Now you can put your MicroSD card into your computer.
You can use one of the adapters from the beginning.
The dscraft_fat.nds and the dscraft folder have to be copied into the root of your MicroSD card.
You can use the FAT and the Nitro version at the same time.
Root means that you have no parental folder, directly onto SD:\.
In addition to that, thr DSCraft_fat.nds should be placed in the ideal case in the root, too.
In addition to that, there's a "worlds" folder in the archive which you can take three extraworlds from.
There are many more worlds avaible from the user database but they are not important for the installation itself.
DSCraft has no infinite/ random worldgenerator. The worlds have to be generated using a computer.
We don't need the other files.
You can read the readme.txt from the archive if you want to learn more about DSCraft.
Now we'll look into the packs folder.
Texturepacks have to be copied into SD:\dscraft\packs.
I'll just drag them into the folder.
And I'll drag the original texturepack into that folder.
Now all files are on the SD card. Remember that the flashcard will probably need some files, too.
Only some flashcards didn't need files on the MicroSD card and they don't get produced any more.
Now the MicroSD card has to be ejected and I'll continue with my DS.
You should make sure that your flashcard supports the DS you're using.
And you should make sure to update your flashcard before you update your DSi/ 3DS.
They don't have to be updated for the DS lite because there are no updates for that DS.
There are serveral other homebrew apps for the DS like a movie player.
You can also play backups from your own games. You can find links to two backup tutorials in the description.
The MicroSD card has to be put into the flashcard (the R4 in my case)
which wants to fall apart directly.
The R4 card has to be placed in the DS which must be turned on after that.
I have to start "DORASU".
Your flashcard could use another game to pass the anti piracy meassures by nintendo.
The flashcard will be booted
into the normal menu.
You have to find the root folder at your flashcard. I have to press "MicroSD Card" but your card could boot into another folder.
Maybe you have to play a bit with the menu before you find the right folder.
DSCraft doesn't support the soft reset function of serveral flashcards.
The DSCraft header appears right in the menu.
You'll come into the menu of DSCraft after starting the game and waiting for a short time
where you can select "Texture Packs"
I choose the original one.
In addition to that, you can select different control schemes
and go into the singelplayer mode.
Here I have the 4 installed maps.
You can create them on your own or you can download them from the net.
I'll just start the testmap.map
Now I'm in the game.
It's possible that the game crashes while using it. You should backup your maps regular if you built something important.
I can run alround, place some blocks,
or destroy them after going into the destroy mode on the touch screen.
In addition to that, I can select different items on the bottom
or go into the inventory and drag other items into the selection on the bottom.
You can jump by tapping the screen twice.
You can take screenshots, you can fly and you can do other nice things.
I say more about that in my first tutorial
You can turn on the flight mode by pressing A, B, X and Y at the same time.
Mobs etc. won't be integrated into the game because the developement has stopped.
Maybe there will be something on the 3DS, we don't know it yet.
You can change the time by holding the "clock".
I'll continue playing the game now.
You can ask me questions concerning the game in the comment section.
See you in the next video!
